Today we’d like to introduce you to V3NUS.
Hi V3NUS, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I was an only child without video games or cable tv, however, there were two things that fueled my imagination. The latter lifesavers were books and music. I had an awesome book collection and had arranged a mock library in my room, and around the age of five, my parents bought me an upright piano. Water to a fish is what music became to V3nus.
I went from performing on the fireplace in front of Raggedy Ann and my cabbage patch dolls, to playing the piano and singing at church where I was also introduced to the organ. I loved to perform! Also, being an avid reader, I honed my writing skills… V3nus is the brainchild of an artist with a long-standing passion for words. Music is a universal language and my goal is to tell those stories that we have and the experiences that we share.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Even the smoothest roads have bumps. Mine has had its fair share of potholes and random detours that would pop up along the way! One of my biggest hurdles in life was having the self-confidence to put my music into the world. Seemingly, the older I got the more I worried about how others would perceive me. Although I believed in my abilities, I didn’t think it was enough to garner attention from an audience. In hindsight, I was my biggest setback.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an educator by day. I have the privilege of teaching some of the most amazing teenagers in Fort Worth. My students at Trimble Tech High School are super supportive and encouraging. I have always enjoyed working with kids, especially young adults. I learn so much from them and I’m able to leave them with little nuggets of wisdom as well.
How do you define success?
Success is carpe diem. It’s the culmination of seizing opportunities, being consistent, and staying persistent. For me, success has always been synonymous with growth. I make it a point to celebrate my accomplishments and learn from negative outcomes.
