Today we’d like to introduce you to Vandell Andrew.
Vandell, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started playing music at the age of 13 at a local jazz summer camp in New Orleans. Shortly after, I started high school and had the opportunity to be a part of the St. Augustine High School Marching 100. I marched in the band (playing the alto saxophone) for four years. During my four years at St.Aug, we traveled and played music all over the United States. It was then that I realized that I wanted to pursue music as my career! After moving to Dallas in 2005, I decided to pursue my dreams fully. I recorded my first original three-song EP in 2009, and I promoted it on social media and at my local gigs. Since then, then I’ve recorded and released several albums independently, toured internationally, and have produced and written music with several artists across several genres.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, the road was not very smooth at all. Finances have always been the biggest struggle. As an independent artist, I fund 100% of everything that I do. This has forced me to be very creative with the ways that I market my music.
Please tell us about your music.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would’ve taken even MORE risks!
