Meet Veronica Fletcher of Vee’s Bakeshoppe in Central Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Fletcher.

Veronica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started baking in college with the hopes of recreating the desserts I grew up on, this led to numerous calls home and long recipe walk-throughs with my mom. Growing up, we didn’t have packaged sweets in our pantry because my mom, known to many in the Dallas area as the “Cookie Lady”, baked all the time.

I’ve always had an affinity to make people smile, so serving a slice of cake or pie (sometimes, even a cookie or two) was my way of leaving a little bit of joy with others. It wasn’t until 2014 when a coworker asked me to bake her Thanksgiving desserts and paid me that the fledgling version of Vee’s Bakeshoppe was born. When Christmas came, there were even more coworkers who requested desserts for their family gatherings. Following that successful holiday season in May 2015, I made my first batch of cupcakes, and I SOLD OUT!

Currently, I offer made-to-order cakes, cupcakes, cookies and tarts which customers can request by visiting www.veesbakeshoppe.com or emailing directly at veethebaker@gmail.com. A few months out of the year, I attend and host pop-ups around the metroplex.

Vee’s Bakeshoppe – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Vee’s Bakeshoppe is best known for classic desserts baked fresh using locally sourced ingredients. While some of my signature recipes been passed down from my mother and grandmother, I also provide modern desserts inspired by my experiences and palette. I specialize in well baked, cakes, cookies, and tarts, with a nod to good ole southern hospitality. All my desserts are made from scratch, and I use preservative free ingredients which are truly my secret to success. It’s important to me that everything from the decorations to the cake or cookie itself tastes great. The entire creation has to edible! As the sole proprietor and baker, I aim to rank quality and taste above everything else.

While I was blessed with a mother who took the time and energy to teach me how to bake and cook, I realize not everyone had that opportunity. The art of entertaining and engaging family & friends over a cake baked with love is my motivation. In this fast-paced digital world, we live in, making a decadent dessert is a way for me to foster and maintain relationships. As I always say, “If a slice gives you good memories, imagine what a whole cake will do.”

While I’m active on social media, I also have a website for potential and current customers to visit, view pictures of recent creations, and submit personal orders. I encourage people to join my Sweet List so they are the first to know of sales, pop-ups, and other Bakeshoppe updates. The people on this VIP list always get first dibs on all the sweet news.
