Today we’d like to introduce you to Von Daniel.
Von, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2000, I started writing and performing stand up comedy. It was suggested to me to take an improv class to help with my stage presents and thinking quicker on my feet. I took a couple of classes then in 2002 a friend invited me to go to an audition for the improv troupe ComedySportz {Yes one word and with a “z”] I fell in love with the team aspect of improv and every show is different. I performed with ComedySportz till 2008 when the previous owner of ComedySportz Dallas had to lock the doors.
2008, I started Locked Out Productions, LLC and created a new improv troupe called Locked Out Comedy. {because we were locked out of our venue at the time.} from 2008 till 2014 Locked Out Comedy performed where ever there was a stage. We performed in conference halls, hotels, Art center theaters, and churches.
In 2014, I took over the ComedySportz rights here in DFW. Locked Out Comedy has now fully transitioned back to ComedySportz DFW. In 2017 I opened The Comedy Arena [home of ComedySportz DFW} in historical downtown McKinney. Where we have improv, stand up and corporate and public classes.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Also making to move to leave corporate America for good after climbing the Corp. ladder for 25 years.

The Comedy Arena offers a variety of shows and classes throughout the week. Whether you want to see a live comedy show OR want to perform in a live comedy show, The Comedy Arena can make it happen! We are excited to offer talents from all over the Dallas and Fort Worth (DFW) metroplex, as well as grow those hidden talents of our neighbors and friends from down the street.

The Comedy Arena is excited to show off other comedic talents including other Comedy Troupes (a group of people who work together independently of any theater to create their own style and show) or other performers who have a comedic voice and just need a place to display it.
We will offer shows for an audience of all ages (i.e. ComedySportz, The Fabricators), but there will be some after dark/later shows (i.e. The Humor Games) where you are going to want to leave the kids at home and even some experimental shows.
The Comedy Arena is in downtown McKinney, TX just a little off the Square at 305 E. Virginia and is one of the few options that is supplying comedic entertainment every weekend of the year. We’re excited to bring live comedy to North Texas. We’re also looking forward to collaborating with our neighboring businesses to add to the thriving city that is McKinney, TX.
The Comedy Arena is available to host your private events as the arena/theater itself can be bought out for a day/night if needed.
