Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier and Patrice De La Paz.
Xavier has been in the photography business over 25 years. He is a photographer and has developed and patented photographic lighting products with his company XP PhotoGear. His wife Patrice received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photojournalism in 1997 and has been photographing alongside her husband Xavier since they married in 2002 under their photography business name XanZo Gallery.
In the early stages of Photos On The Vine, Xavier would host photo walks throughout the interesting, often historic, areas of Fort Worth. Photographers of all skill levels would meet up at a local wine bar for a social hour and then head out, being lead by different professional photographers, to learn more about photography and lighting while photographing on location in these unique neighborhoods.
Photos On The Vine found its permanent home in 2015 after Xavier decided to create a specific educational area, which would include a portrait studio, where photographers could meet for different types of photography, lighting, and photoshop classes. The classes at Photos On The Vine are BYOB, and attendees always have the option of bringing their favorite beverage or appetizers to these educational and social events. Xavier and Patrice also run their photography business XanZo Gallery out of Photos On The Vine now and are able to do all of their indoor studio sessions at this location.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Being self-employed and then making the decision to open up a business in a commercial property can be challenging. It has been challenging to find the right marketing avenue to reach all the types of customers we would like to bring in to Photos On The Vine. We are creating a one-stop photography environment where we service photography clients from everything to headshots to weddings, and yet also an educational environment to teach classes to aspiring photographers in the DFW area. We wear many hats to accomplish our goals, but the excitement of working with all these types of people is very rewarding.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Photos On The Vine – what should we know?
Photos On The Vine is both a photography studio and an educational center. Our business is located in East Fort Worth and specializes in all types of photography such as family photography, maternity, newborn, engagements, bridals, boudoir, and wedding photography.
We offer various types of photography and photoshop classes, available to the public and designed for all skill levels. Most of these classes are BYOB, where attendees can bring a bottle of wine to share with friends and have a fun evening out, learning photography and meeting other photographers. We like to think of ourselves as a one-stop shop for photography.
We opened Photos On the Vine not only to create a full-time accessible portrait studio but also to teach Photography and PhotoShop classes here in our studio. We also host special photography events with speakers from around our region. Our goal is to create a portrait studio location to serve our clients, and to also offer educational experiences for the aspiring photographer.
