Today we’d like to introduce you to Yvonne Futch.
Yvonne, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started by a friend of mine dragging me to a Reiki workshop at a new age book store in California. She thought I might like it. At the workshop, the instructor went over the basics of what Reiki is and then proceeded to work on all of us. I was blown away by my experience, which led me to want to learn more about what this was about. Then, I took Reiki classes through a Reiki Master. This is where I discovered my true purpose and how to break bad habits like smoking, release old belief habits that no longer served me and learn new coping mechanisms.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been both a smooth road and a struggle.
The challenge for me was going to school. I had a school counselor tell me, I should be a secretary and college was not an option and another school counselor told me it would take me to long to get an undergraduate degree as I was already in my late 30’s. But because I had found Reiki, I had the self-awareness and determination to not listen to their negativity and was a smooth road. I am now a Master-Certified Reiki Practitioner, practicing holistic healing since 2005. I have my Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas, Arlington and a minor in Holistic Health.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in Reiki and Social Work.
I am known to help individuals enhance their physical, mental or spiritual wellness.
I am most proud of coming to a brand new state building this business from the ground up. The success of my company is due to my clients referring me to others.
What I love about what I do is not only being able to help people but connecting them with outside resources. As a social worker for over fifteen years, I enjoy being involved in the community and connecting individuals with the resources and tools that allow them to reach their goals and complete wellness. Everyone deserves to be happy and to be the best that they can be, I can help them obtain that.
What sets you apart from others? What sets me apart from others is my Master’s degree in Social Work strengthens my Reiki practice, the key difference between my approach and the approach of other healers is my counseling background. I combine a theoretical approach with the gentle healing that Reiki provides for the well-being of my clients.
