Today we’d like to introduce you to Zach Schultz.
Zach, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a born and raised Austinite and have continued living in Austin post-graduation from The University of Texas at Austin. I graduated from the McCombs School of Business with degrees in Business Honors and Supply Chain Management. I also completed a minor in African and African Diaspora Studies. Since then, I have worked in Finance at Dell Technologies where I started in a two-year rotational development program and then joined the Investor Relations team. I enjoy spending time on the lake or doing anything outside and spending time with my family. I am also passionate about serving my community and I currently serve on the Junior Executive Board for Susan G. Komen Greater Central and East Texas.
Has it been a smooth road?
Instagram is an extremely saturated marketplace and it’s not an easy place to build a brand. We do not pay to promote our page or content right now so our growth is completely organic right now. I think growth is something that any new business is challenged by in the beginning, but our goal is to stick to our mission and be patient as growth builds. We want to inspire a healthy and active lifestyle in our community and that mission is worth all of the growing pains and challenges.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
About a year ago, a childhood friend and I started @becausejuiceland, which is an Instagram health and lifestyle page. Chantam, my co-founder, and I originally became friends on the tennis court about 15 years ago and have shared a passion for living a healthy and active lifestyle since then. Our love for the outdoors and the pursuit of an active and healthy lifestyle was part of the formula for our account. @becuasejuiceland was also inspired by JuiceLand, which is an Austin-based juice, smoothie & healthy eats shop. We are just getting started and are looking forward to growing our brand into a community staple.
Our story and dynamic partnership make our content unique. Out content is consistently picked up by JuiceLand and our page is more community-based as opposed to the typical lifestyle/health accounts on Instagram.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In such a saturated market, I expect this space to become more influenced by experiences, community and connection. I think the community component is a big piece of the growth puzzle here because that is how we’ll transition our online engagement to in-person experiences and connections.
