Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Yiannios.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have been modeling a little over a year now, growing up I never thought of myself as the modeling type. I played basketball and thought that was my lane. I eventually got to the point of college and chose to hang it up after only a semester of college basketball. After hanging it up I felt a void and little did I know photography and videography would fill it. I started helping my dad create content for his dental office. It then led to me going on a tour with Rachel Platten and Pentatonix. After I returned from that tour, I then had an even larger void. I simply couldn’t find anything that would fill it and kept myself busy with work. Until one day I was celebrating my roommate’s birthday and a complete stranger approached me and asked me if I modeled, I simply said no and she told me to submit. Ever since then I have been blessed by opportunities! I am currently signed with 2 agencies, dragonfly based in Dallas and LA, and strut based in NYC. Through these agencies, I have been fortunate enough to work with brands such as Jordan, new era, and even academy!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. After I graduated, I took a job as a dock supervisor. I didn’t enjoy it and ended up quitting and went back to my roots and tried starting a media company picking up my camera again. It seemed to simply not do as well as I was expecting, although we were in the middle of the pandemic.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I model, I would say my demographic is very wide. As I am kind of a mutt when it comes to ethnic backgrounds. My grandparents on both sides of my family being immigrants I have always been surrounded by culture. They are from Mexico, Greece, Palestine, and Germany.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
Nothing I particular. I am typically a big music head though. I always have music playing to clear my head and bring up my mood.
