Today we’d like to introduce you to Danni Time. Them and their team share their story with us below:
With a master’s in clinical social work, focusing on mental health, Danni finds joy in providing an escape from everyday life stressors. She was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, a city she loves to call home. Like most youth trying to find their way she has faced some challenges but was quickly attracted to the outlet of dance. She mastered hip-hop and took on some hip-winning techniques at an early age. Today, she has perfected her talents and offers this feel-good experience to others through instructing dance classes. It goes beyond dance, she hosts fun-themed events and social gatherings to create a safe space for people to enjoy themselves. Danni relocated to Dallas in August of 2021, and she hasn’t slowed down one bit. She looks forward to continuing her success in her new hometown, Dallas!
Her legal name is Danielle and was nicknamed Danni by her family. She was granted the title “Danni Time” because whenever she was around her peers, her welcoming presence and uplifting spirit would positively affect the atmosphere. Friends would often say, “I want some of that Danni Time Experience.” One friend, in particular, would chant “it’s Danni Time” whenever she entered the room. Combined with her love for people & passion for creative events, Danni Time Events was created! That same non-judgment and compassion her peers experienced is the feeling she looks to offer anyone that encounters her and patronizes her events.
With creative themes and fun-filled activities, Danni is always looking to provide an outlet. Danni Time Events is more than an outing, it’s an EXPERIENCE!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t believe anything worth having comes easy. On the journey to success, I learned a lot. I believe there’s a level of self-reflection that needs to happen when evolving. I’ve struggled with Imposter Syndrome which is basically getting in your own way due to fear of the next level, fear of being incapable, or fear of the unknown/failure. I had to quickly learn you can’t have success without bumping your head along the way. Those moments many would call failures are truly learning lessons. As long as there’s room to grow, it’s all a WIN! I had to remind myself that I had to first give myself what I’m offering to others. I had to first believe in myself, and show up for myself, and practice what I preach. It is continuous work! One thing that works for me is my determination and point to see things through once I’ve started. This mentality has allowed me to see my potential and go forward even when I’m unsure of the other side. However, that’s what makes success so beautiful and appreciative. You’ll find you can do and have more than what doubt will try and stop you from accomplishing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Mental Health Counselor by profession and the CEO of Danni Time Events. I’ve recently launched my new cosmetic line Danni Time Beauty and it has been off to a great start. I supply vegan-friendly & cruelty-free products for my clients to enjoy and accentuate their beauty! The thing that sets me apart from others is the fact that not only do I create spaces to have a good time, but my mission is to advocate and educate individuals on mental wellness. During my dance classes, I provide techniques, resources, and information on how to care for our mental health. I wanted to take the best of both interests and bring them together creating the ultimate experience. Having an outlet to alleviate stress or express yourself through art does wonder for the mind and emotional regulation. I plan to continue this movement for future events and social outings. Throughout my journey I have learned that it doesn’t matter how good life has been to you, a breakdown can happen to anyone. The more we educate ourselves on the topic, the more equipped we can be to help ourselves and our community. The African American population are deemed less likely to seek mental health support. However, one of the top ranking struggling with mental illness. I want to do my part to make a difference and bring awareness. We are coming to a place where mental health is not only a conversation but also a movement and I want to be a part of making that change. The more we know, the more we can grow. I want the world to know that my brand is more than sexy dance classes and a good time. It’s women empowerment, mental wellness, resources, and a safe space, it’s an EXPERIENCE! What people know me best by is giving what we call ‘THE GAS”. We could just meet, and I’m going to hype you and call out all of your best qualities. I love to see how people glow when life is spoken to them, and they feel celebrated. It’s a part of my “Gas Gang” mission.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I will be the owner of my own event and dance space. My goal is to rent the space out to other instructors as well as teach. I will be hosting events in my own space. I am currently working on a self-help workbook, and apparel to represent my brand and mission. I am excited about sharing my creations with the world. These products will be available for purchase in the near future. I plan to host cosmetic parties for my beauty line and become more established in the beauty industry. I am also working on being clinically licensed within my profession so that’ll be able to provide therapeutic services.
