Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian Turpin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was in hospitality and nightlife from 2007-2019. I moved to Dallas, Texas in 2017 because the company I worked for at the time was opening a Dallas location. Spending most of my life in Arizona, I was ready to grow and make a change! I left nightlife in December 2019; right before COVID hit. During quarantine, I really reevaluated the priorities in my life. I was always interested on in health and fitness, but I really made it much more of a focus during this time. I spent my days learning and researching how food can heal illnesses, improve energy levels, shift your mindset to a more positive state, and the importance of daily movement, recovery, sleep, and so much more. I now work full-time for an investment company and spend the rest of my time learning more about health and wellness practices.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think with any career switch in your 30s (on top of a pandemic) has its struggles and has you questioning some choices. Risk-taking always presents challenges. It’s so important to realize that your path is your own and nothing that is meant for you will pass you by. Even if things don’t make sense in the moment, being patient and trusting the process always works out.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I help manage a portfolio of companies across various industries including e-commerce, business consulting and staffing, medical aesthetics, real estate, and we recently created a nonprofit organization that I am the president of. Every day is different, depending on the needs of each company. Some days it will be photoshoots for the e-commerce business, other days it will be marketing meetings, etc. I love to multi-task, so this is the perfect job for me.
I also work as a social media influencer and create content focused on health, wellness, and fitness. I would say I would be more known for my Instagram presence and being a positive, motivating light for other women. I love helping other people, so getting the opportunity to help create this non-profit organization has been a dream come true. In addition to those two jobs, I also model on the side.
I think what sets me apart from others is being calm, cool, and collected. With age comes an extreme awareness of who I am. Although I’m always striving to grow as a person, I am also so content with who I am and how I treat people. My work ethic is also something I’m very proud of.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
My life motto is “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” so I definitely consider myself a risk-taker. Taking a risk is uncomfortable, but through discomfort comes growth. I rather know I tried than regret never knowing. Moving states at age 29, and switching careers at 32 I would consider pretty big risks. Hospitality and nightlife was all I’ve ever known for work, and it’s been a wild ride. I’m really content with where I’m at now.
