Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Eskridge.
Hi Kristy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was a child, I was always the one who wanted to help. I always befriended the new kid at school. I just had a passion for people. When I was younger, I watched the Prince of Egypt and admired how Moses freed the children of Israel. I used to tell God send me to Egypt I will go. I seem to always attract the broken someone who needs encouragement or in so much of bondage by the choices they have made—the hard cases. I desired to help them and walk with them through whatever it is, no matter how long it takes. I want to see women free, so I started with Godsend me I’ll go to dark places. Today I have written two books. I hold empowerment retreats and works shops Nationally and Internationally. I lead Women’s groups with my church. I speak at homes for troubled girls. I also have my own hair care line YOU, by Kristy E.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not been easy; nothing is easy about serving others. Some challenges I have is myself. I deal with that most. When you invest time and pour into someone, I have to constantly remind myself I am just the vessel that God sent. The fire starter and it is God who will fan the flame. Having said that, I feel like I’m not successful sometimes. Just because you’re helping someone does mean it will be an automatic success. Getting the right information is a struggle; there were times I don’t know which direction to go and no one in my immediate circle was doing what I was doing. Therefore I was the trailblazer them but struggling in my eyes. Going through a divorce in the being of launching my hair product business was hard. I gave up for a few years; my business partner was gone and so were my hopes and dreams.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I choose creativity because I do several things. Coaching and workshops. Author and well as a hairstylist. I am most know for women’s empowerment and my books. I am most proud of my writing and my Transparency sets me apart from others.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next five to ten years, I see myself speaking to women in different nations. Teaching them about identifying who they are—empowering and encouraging. Bringing women together for a common cause, and that’s to help other women and those to come.
