Rising Stars: Meet Krysta McKim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krysta McKim.

Hi Krysta, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well first, let me tell you a little background history to help you better understand. At 6 years old I was diagnosed with A.L.L. (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia). I went through chemo & thankfully did not have to go through radiation as well. My body was pumped with extremely harsh medicines for years. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in Modern Medicine and know that my life was saved because of it. I am eternally grateful to call myself a Survivor, however, some of the medicines compromised my immune system long-term. Which means I have to be extremely kind to myself & my body to make sure that I don’t get sick. I am now 28 years old & in good health. It took a lot of trial & error to figure out what I specifically needed to do to keep my body strong and healthy. Over the years I started to learn about plant-based, chemical-free alternatives that helped me thrive in so many different areas. Then I started to dive deeper into essential oils and the millions of benefits they offer our bodies! I’m always in awe of the beneficial properties of oils & am constantly learning new ways to incorporate them into my life.

Fast forward to early 2020, I was working a high-intensity job with long hours and lots of stress. I needed to find a way to relieve my stress and anxiety while I was on shift. I also needed to find a healthy alternative to help me sleep post-shift, that’s when I started to experiment even more with the essential oils that I used in my daily life. I began mixing oils into a blend to see if there were any that would bring me some relief to the things I mentioned. There was a lot of trial and error, until one day I had found it, I had found the blend that would literally change my life and the lives of others. Liquid Zanny, it was the perfect roller for stress, anxiety, and relaxation, the plus side – it also helped me sleep! I’ve always been fascinated with Reflexology as well, so I did some more research! I had learned that by putting my blend on the bottom of my right big toe I was sleeping like a baby. Why? Because our big toes are where the head, brain, pituitary, and pineal gland reflexes are located! By no means am I a doctor, but what I had discovered was working extremely well, so well that co-workers were starting to notice. Those co-workers were then asking for me to make them a Roller as well. Eventually, word started to spread!

That’s when I started researching and working on other blends for things, I was personally experiencing in my everyday life. Pain, tension, headaches from time to time, bloating, cramps, allergies, etc. I was making blends that people were not only using but LOVING. So, in November of 2020, I decided it was time to open up an Etsy. I wanted to share my creations with the world, in hopes that they would bring other’s the relief they were searching for. Slowly but surely my business started to grow. Reviews, messages, and conversations were flowing from clients telling me that my products were truly making a difference in their life.

I’ve always had a passion for helping others, in any way that I can, so to hear what a difference my products were making in their life meant the world to me! Now, Liquid Zanny has become a best seller across the U.S., and has even made its way to Canada, Australia, UK, and multiple other incredible places! I own and operate my official site thehealinghausco.org and my Etsy. I do vendor shows whenever possible and have started offering other incredible stores my products for wholesale. My husband and I have big dreams for our Small Business and every day we are incredibly thankful to see them slowly but surely, come true!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road! You see other small business owners thriving and think to yourself “owning your own business must be so fun and so easy!”. We’ll let me just say, it is so much fun! However, it is not as easy as it looks. My business has had multiple ups and downs, good months, great months, and not-so-great months. There is a lot of hard work, dedication, long hours, tears, and sacrifice. There are countless hours of doubting yourself and wondering if you’re doing the right thing. You put your heart and soul into your business and hope that you get to watch it thrive. Sometimes, you get impatient and wonder “when will it be my turn?”, and then you feel guilty for thinking that! These are all things that I’ve learned, are completely normal for a business owner starting out, probably even a business owner 5+ years in! It’s a lot of trial and error, a lot of learning, a lot of constantly evolving. There’s bumps in the road that you won’t anticipate happening. For example, about 6 months ago my business was negatively affected, at the time, because of the original name of my bestselling roller. The name prior to its current one was Liquid Xanax. Even though the roller is made out of 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils and coconut oil., not actually containing any other substance, the roller was reported on one of my platforms and removed. I was unable to actively sell it until there was a name change. When we finally came up with a new name, we re-launched the bestseller and started building up our exposure again. That brief period set us back at the time, but now looking back, it was one of the best things that could have ever happened. We came back stronger than before with a name just as great as the original!

I can’t tell you how many times I have stood in our living room, tears rushing down my face, telling my husband “Maybe I can’t do this, maybe I’m just not cut out for this.” My husband likes to call this my “once a month meltdown” LOL. That sweet soul always puts everything back into perspective for me. I have not come this far, just to come this far! My business has changed thousands of lives and one day, I hope millions!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I handcraft wellness products for mind, body, and soul. What I mean by that is this, I truly believe that when we take care of ourselves, our body, the way that we were meant to, our souls truly thrive! I’ve gone through numerous medical procedures and experienced years upon years of illness and discomfort. Surviving through life is exactly that, surviving. I didn’t want to just survive anymore, I wanted to live, the best way I possibly could, mentally and physically! So, I started to research and learn more about alternative, holistic ways I could ease the discomforts that I was experiencing. As I was doing this, I learned that I wasn’t the only one just “surviving” through life. That’s when I knew, I wanted to create products that could help others LIVE. I’m far from arrogant, however, I am very proud of what I’ve created. I have 350+, five-star reviews on my Etsy alone. Reviews talking about how some of my products have truly made a difference in people’s lives. I didn’t start my small business for the money, I started it for the purpose and passion of helping others, it’s what I love, it’s what I’ve always loved and always will. Most big companies, not all, but most, don’t truly care about their clients. they care about the profit. I want my clients to know that I am here, for them, to help them. I put an extensive amount of time and love into my products, my packaging, and my relationships with every single client that supports my business.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I live in a very small-town east of Dallas called Pittsburg! I absolutely love the small-town feel, the southern hospitality, and the beautiful scenery all around us! One of my favorite things about the Piney Woods area we live in are the gorgeous, tall trees all around us, nature makes me extremely happy, so this is home for me! I’m not a city girl, don’t get me wrong, I love going to the city for a day of fun, but when it’s all said and done my heart is in the simplicity of small-town living. Also, another thing I love is this, I’m a water baby, if I could live in the lake, I would LOL, but since that isn’t possible, I gladly accept that we live only 10-15 minutes from Lake Bob Sandlin!
