Rising Stars: Meet Madison Truscan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Truscan.

Hi Madison, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up as a competitive dancer for fifteen years and suffered a pretty severe spine injury at age 17. I suddenly found myself with no passions, nothing fulfilling my artistic desires, and too much free time on my hands. I received a small digital camera for Christmas when I was 10 years old and decided to give it another try. I began photographing anything and everything I could get my hands on. I developed a gift for working with people and started expanding my craft and education. I didn’t take anything too seriously until COVID hit in spring of 2020. I was working from home and honestly did not know what the future would hold, and was bored of doing nothing with photography. I had decided to start posting videos on TikTok, just sharing who I am and what I do, and telling others why they should book with me. I had a video go viral, and I immediately established a name for myself. I branded myself as @madisonfromseattle (since I was living in Seattle at the time, but now I am @madisonfromdallas) and more videos started blowing up. I was getting clients left and right, people from all over the country. I became known as the photographer to work with who will make you feel comfortable in front of the camera. I pride myself on being able to empower, coach, and inspire my clients by capturing their truest and most authentic self. That is what sets me apart from other photographers and has enabled me to truly niche down. Now, I’ve recently moved to Dallas where I accepted an offer as the Director of Photography and Content Strategy for Loud Agency. It is crazy to see how my life has progressed in the last five years and I absolutely love what I do – my work is fulfilling and gives me purpose.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not! Haha. All artists struggle with imposter syndrome, and I’m in the same boat. I have questioned many times why someone wants to work with ME specifically, but I constantly am reminding myself that these clients choose me because they have liked what they’ve seen of me and my work and they WANT to work with me. We are all our own worst critics.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in portrait, lifestyle, and branding photography. I am known in Seattle and Dallas for the ability to make ANYONE comfortable in front of the camera. You don’t need any experience to work with a photographer. I am passionate about crafting a photo session that is an experience you will treasure for years to come. Let’s make it fun! Play music, laugh, pop champagne… whatever makes you feel the most comfortable! I firmly believe if you are investing in a photographer. you should have an exciting, positive, and uplifting experience, not just standing in front of a camera while the shutter clicks. My following on TikTok has expanded significantly and it has been so special to watch my life progress because of my authenticity, transparency, and support. If it wasn’t for my viral videos and TikTok presence, I would not be the photographer I am today.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Growing up as a dancer, my recitals and competitions were always so special. I’ll never forget the hundreds of hours put into rehearsals for a show, but how, after the performance, it was worth every second. The hairspray and bobby pins, the rhinestoned costumes, and twenty pairs of shoes… every little detail is engrained in my memory and I will cherish it forever.
