Rising Stars: Meet MJ Griffin

Today we’d like to introduce you to MJ Griffin.

Hi MJ, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was raised in house of 5 kids by my grandmother. She did everything she could to make sure we had what we needed regardless of what she had to do to get it. I am very fortunate to have her in my life along with my granny who had been there with and all the way until 2015 when she passed away. Not really having a lot growing up, all I ever really had was sports to keep me out of trouble and doing what other kids were. If it weren’t for sports i don’t know where I would be today. Around 12, I moved in with my aunt and uncle and who continued to raise me through the next 6 years. My uncle “Michael cantaloupe” was such a role model to me, watching him play sports growing up and ensuring I went down the right path I am very grateful to have him he was the only father figure I had in my life, teaching me everything I know about sports. My aunt then took on the role of a mother to me always keeping me in line and making sure I was always doing what I supposed to. She is a very strong woman and she took on the role of raising me when she was just 18 years old and for that I am very grateful. I then pursued college for basketball for a few years and then realized this wasn’t what gif had planned for me I dropped out, joined the military when I was 19, and pursued that all the way until 2022 throughout those years, I was practicing music. I found a passion for music early in when I was 14, singing all different types of music from country, rap, rock, and R&B. I got serious about it when I turned 18 and never looked back since this is my obsession, and I won’t stop even when I make it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having no money, it was very hard growing up, and everything I did, I worked for hard, nothing was ever given to me. I would get some things growing up but always had to work for it. I struggled a lot of days with no food and slept just so I wouldn’t have to be hungry. It was difficult wearing the same clothes all the time and my parents coming in and out of my life. My great grandma had passed away in 2015, and that took a very hard punch on me she was my everything and raised me from a baby along with my grandma until I was 12 always having her in my memory gives me so much motivation. I had my first child this year in 2022, and now that makes me want to try even harder to ensure he never had to go through what I did. Drugs growing up were all over the place, and somehow, I never did any of them I was always smart as a child and was taught right from wrong very well. At the end of the day, I am very blessed and grateful for all I have

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I work I Amazon and work on robotics fixing them when that mess up and also stocking packages to be shipped. I am known for my string drive and dedication to what I love also for motivating people in a way they never thought possible. I am most proud of my son seeing him gives me motivation I’ve never had before in my life he is everything to me, and I will make it for him. I’m set apart from other because of my work ethic and my versatility in every aspect from music to life I will always be driven, and a way most people aren’t, and when it’s gets rough, I take that and keep pushing no matter what I won’t stop. When people doubt me and tell me I can’t do it or laugh in my face and never support me because they don’t see me going anywhere in music, I use that as motivation to prove them wrong and to prove to all the kids that it doesn’t matter where you’re from as long as you have a god, a hard work ethic, and motivation you can really be anything you want. Consistency is key to being successful.

What matters most to you? Why?
Making it for my family and proving to the world that this is not just a hobby to me, and I am here to stay and help my fans relate to me on a different level. I want this more than anything. I want to give back to the people that helped me become who I am today all while doing the thing I love which is making music and sharing it to my fans
