Rising Stars: Meet Natalie Fernandez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Fernandez.

Hi Natalie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hello there, my name is Natalie Fernandez. I came here from Florida 9 years ago. Since I was a little girl, I loved makeup, I use to be in theater and dance, and my favorite part was getting dressed up and doing my hair and makeup. I learned from an early age I was pretty good at it and had all my friends come to me to help them with their hair and makeup. That love turned into a hobby, and that hobby turned into a career choice when I started working as a freelancer. Once I moved here, I enrolled in Regency Institute to study cosmetology; my goal was to learn as much as possible. Even to this day, I still take classes to learn different techniques. Currently, I’m working to expand my services to lash extensions, brow lamination, tinting, henna, microblading, and shading, also spray tanning. One can never stop learning and evolving. It’s crucial for the beauty industry. I’m grateful for all the opportunities this city has offered me. I’ve come a long way, but my journey is far from over, it’s just the beginning, and I hope to spread my knowledge with others. Helping others succeed is the most satisfying thing for me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not, but embracing my mistakes and learning from them has molded me into the artist and business owner I am today. I don’t claim to know it all; I have tons to still learn. Looking forward to it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Most known for my hair and makeup. Mainly bridals and photoshoots. Would love to do more film and editorials. Also working to expand my services as well as teaching classes. Maybe owning my own salon one day.

We’d love to hear about what you think about risk-taking.
Absolutely, being comfortable means being stagnant to me. I want to constantly push myself to do more.
