Today we’d like to introduce you to The DJ School Dallas. Them and their team share their story with us below:
The DJ School Dallas was started by DJ Titan & S.O.U.L.Jah in 2019. They are two veteran DJs with a combined 40-plus years of experience in the DJ world. Both have traveled the world because of their talents & have garnered praise & accolades along the way. They met at Core records over 15 years ago & have been best friends ever since. In 2007, S.O.U.L.Jah & DJ Titan started teaching students privately how to DJ; however, it wasn’t until 2019 that they finally joined forces to start The DJ School Dallas. They wanted to open up a school where they could invite anyone that wants to learn the art of DJing and spread their knowledge further than ever before. Fast forward to 2022 & The DJ School Dallas will be celebrating its 20th graduation and 100th student! By 2025, they are expecting to have 300 graduates under their belt, if not more. But don’t get it twisted! You can still catch DJ Titan & S.O.U.L.Jah at your favorite club tearing up the dance floor with their amazing DJ sets!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing in the music industry is a smooth ride. Like anything that is important, it has taken a lot of time, patience, & hard work to achieve success at The DJ School Dallas. From trying to find a suitable location to attracting new students, it is a labor of love. None of the school’s success could have been achieved without its third integral member, Cory Frenette. Cory is student liaison, booking manager, marketing director, and overall general manager for The DJ School Dallas. Without her, the school would not exist. The school has been blessed with very minimal struggles because of the team behind it and the constant level of ownership behind the scenes.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The work put in at The DJ School Dallas is the most rewarding result of S.O.U.L.Jah and DJ Titan’s DJ careers. DJ Titan has always been a Drum & Bass specialist, whereas S.O.U.L.Jah has always been an open format specialist. This brings two different points of views and aspects of DJing that is crucial for its diverse student base. These aspiring DJs are able to put their hard work to the test after graduation and have opportunities to become professional working DJs. The school’s proudest achievement is watching a student come full circle and surpassing their wildest dreams of becoming a professional DJ. Launching some of the best up & coming DJs Texas has to offer, The DJ School Dallas’ ultimate reward is to be able to give back!
