Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Hildreth.
Madison, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
Modeling was always something I have been interested in from a young age; however, my struggle with self-confidence and shy persona often hindered my ability to really pursue this passion. I remember hiding behind my mom when people would try to talk to me. When having to read in class, my voice would tremble, and my hands would sweat. I could never bring myself to present in school because my body would go numb, my vision would blur, and I knew I would make a complete fool out of myself. But after forcing myself to take an acting class that my mom recommended, everything changed. At the young age of nine, I began taking on-camera acting classes which immediately forced me out of my shell. I pushed myself to succeed and step outside my comfort zone because I wanted to do something more than the average kid. I’ve always had a fire within that motivated me to be into the spotlight, but it wasn’t until I truly forced myself to come out of my shell. At thirteen I entered my first pageant and competed at Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen two years later after winning my first local title in 2015. From acting to pageants, to competitive cheer, I had finally gained the confidence and determination that I needed to achieve what I wanted. I suffered an eating disorder during my Freshman year of college, which was mainly a result of an immense amount of stress and pressure I put on myself. After eight months of working on myself and my mental state, I was ready to get back to doing what I love. I got into fitness modeling and began working with brands and photographers on social media. I want to continue modeling, and eventually start a fitness brand to empower and motivate individuals that have struggled with eating disorders, self-confidence issues, and other hindrances in order to help them achieve success.
Can you give our readers some background on your work?
I love working with different photographers because they all have different visions that they bring to the table. I love all the aspects of creativity and learning about what motivated them to get into photography. Whether they have a huge following on social media or are just starting their journey, I admire their dedication and greatly enjoy getting the chance to create art with them. From fitness modeling to body paint, my style is all about creating something beautiful that catches the eyes of others. I once wanted to create that perfectly “aesthetic” Instagram, but I now just want to have a page that people can relate to, and look towards for inspiration.
Any advice for aspiring or new models?
If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to have tunnel vision and filter out comments that will deteriorate you. It is so easy to get bogged down by negative opinions, and the mean things others say, but in order to succeed, you MUST stay focused and self-motivated. People will make fun of you when you do something out of the ordinary and are just starting out your journey to your goal. But once you begin to succeed, those insults will turn into praise, and you will get a following. You just have to have tunnel vision at points in your life, and simply ignore the people who want to tear you down. Focus on you.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
Aside from my own personal Instagram, I also have a health/fitness related Instagram (@thegudfoodz). I began my fitness journey about a year ago, and have been posting recipes, healthy food pictures, and more. I also have a Youtube channel that is linked in my Instagram bio. My channel features workouts, healthy foods, and tips for living life to the fullest. By liking, subscribing, and simply just following my social media accounts, it is the best way to support my work, as well as the photographers that I work with. I greatly appreciate it!
