Krystal, we’re so glad to be connecting again.  Maybe you can briefly introduce yourself to our readers to start?

Hi, my name is Krystal Collier! I am a stylist and producer and the owner of KCstyles by Krystal. I was born and raised in Kansas City, Ks and moved to Dallas right after college to start my career in styling. I started as an assistant with a Dallas based agency working with companies like Neiman Marcus, Jcpenney’s, and Restoration Hardware. I gradually worked my way into an in house stylist role for a company that no longer functions and then as a producer for the worlds largest jewelry retailer. Since then, I have grown my client base to big box retailers and e-commerce companies all on my own! Working with companies like Walmart, Jack Black, Mercanti Shoes, DSW, Fruit of the Earth, Tom & Sheri, The Tot, Zales, Piercing Pagoda, Zales and Peoples, just to name a few and featured in countless editorials. I now help brands with production needs and women with everyday style needs.

What is KCstyles and what services do you offer?

I offer everything from production needs to personal styling. If you are in need of marketing for you business, I offer producing and production styling, ranging from prop, wardrobe, editorial, e-commerce, product, and social content. I recently added on personal styling services this summer, which can be done virtually or in person. I offer shopping and closet clean outs too. All my consultations are free right now!

How has Covid affected your business?

In the beginning, I was having a difficult time with figuring out what I was going to do next and how I was going to navigate just like everyone else. I took some time to spend with my family and regroup. That helped me out so much. I realized it was time to put my journalism degree to use and I started making styling videos for local boutiques to highlight their styles and clothing pieces on my page. Since then, I have partnered with 3 different boutiques during this time in some sort of way. It was definitely stressful in the beginning and I still have my days. I am just stepping outside my box and trying new things everyday.

What are some things you have been doing differently since the lockdown?

Things have definitely changed for me since the shutdown. Business was very slow in the beginning and at times, nothing at all. I have been working with more small business owners looking to elevate their business. Whether it’s through marketing, social display, or website display. I also realized how precious life is. I try not to take time for granted anymore and have fully put my 100% into my business. I have been investing more into myself and being there for the people that have supported me from the beginning. I have been trying to eat out less, cook more, exercise when I can and drink plenty of water. Staying healthy and taking care of my health has been my number one priority. I have cut back on eating red meat. I still eat burgers, but I am just trying to eat less of it and more healthier.

Is there anything new for KCstyles in the upcoming future?

I definitely have some new things in the works for KCstyles and there will be some things coming in the future that I think you all will love. I am working on rebranding my whole business and adding in some really cool styling packages and I can’t give away too many details, but it will be coming by next year. I am looking to redesign my whole website, get a logo and restructure my image.
