Small Business of the Day: Conversations with Jacob Niemeier of Vera Aqua Vera Vita

Today’s Small Business of the Day features an interview with Jacob Niemeier. Please find our conversation below.

Thanks so much for joining us today. We’re excited for our readers to learn more about Vera Aqua Vera Vita. Kick things off for us – what should they know?
Vera Aqua Vera Vita (VAVV) is a nonprofit NGO aiming to tap into the physical and spiritual nature of water to empower people and communities in developing countries to generate clean water and sanitation solutions that bring “True Water True Life.”

We are fundamentally a missionary organization focused on community and global development. We empower the people we serve in developing countries while ministering to both their physical and spiritual needs to ensure the implementation of best practices, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and Theology of the Body (T.O.B.) education curricula, and water & wastewater infrastructure solutions that result in generation-over-generation long-term and sustainable change. We work with communities in need to inspire, engineer, and implement solutions to their specific water, sanitation, and hygiene issues. We are currently working specifically in the Piura region of Peru.

Ultimately, We envision a world where death, hardship, and poverty caused by lack of access to clean water and improved sanitation are no more, and we desire to see people flow from simply surviving to truly thriving! We believe that a lack of access to clean water and improved sanitation is the primary cause of poverty in developing countries. It is not enough to just give clean water; empowerment is the key to sustainable change!

Can you go more in depth about your process and or what you feel sets your business apart from others. What else should we know?
At our core, we are fundamentally unique and different in what matters in the fulfillment of our mission because we focus on empowering and equipping the people we serve by engaging them from day one in the development, implementation, and ultimately operational ownership of the clean water systems we install. We do all of this with a holistic approach aimed at nourishing the whole person, incorporating the Triple Bottom Line (balancing Environmental, Economic, and Societal well-being), and walking alongside in Solidarity the people we serve leading them to be self-sufficient in Subsidiarity as the ultimate owners of the solutions we implement.

Alright, before we go, let’s do a quick lightning round.
