Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantay Lewis.
Chantay, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always had a deep love and passion for fashion. When you grow up with a stylish mother, fashion becomes part of your DNA. Dating back to my years in high school, I was voted best dressed in my Senior Class and holding a covenant spot on Dillard’s Teen Fashion Board. As a stylist undercover, I’ve always given family, friends and random department store customers fashion advice.
While working at Neiman Marcus in Human Resources, a fashion’s girl dream. I felt a strong inner compass leading me towards my true purpose. In 2015, I decided to take a leap of faith and launch Chantay’s Personal Touch. At that time, I thought it was just about styling individuals but it has evolved into so much more. I now realize it’s more about fulfilling the purpose of helping women to build confidence, and to be the best version of themselves.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Launching Chantay’s Personal Touch has been one of the greatest challenges and fulfillment in my life. Working full-time and starting a business was more than I could have ever imagined, it’s definitely not for the faint of heart. There were times, I let fear stop me from moving forward. I also had moments that I wanted to quit but quitting wasn’t an option. Once I released fear, I started pursuing purpose. I have learned to be resilient and fearless in my pursuit of purpose. I am an HR Management professional by day and fashion entrepreneur at night and weekends.
My advice for anyone starting a business is to find a mentor, surround yourself with people that will make you better and stay true to your authentic self. Launching my business is creating the life I love! When you love what you do, it does not feel like work.
