Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Deuber.
Mark, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery who has been in practice for 16 years. I perform all aspects of cosmetic surgery including breast and body contouring, facial rejuvenation (including facelift, eyelid surgery and brow lift), and rhinoplasty (cosmetic nose surgery).
In addition to our busy surgical practice, we have recently undergone an expansion and significant office remodel. We are excited about the addition of a state-of-the-art laser center, which combined with the most current available injectables will offer treatment for fine lines, pigment correction, skin tightening, sun damage and much more!
I am very excited to be able to work side-by-side with my wife, Cary Deuber, CRNFA, a registered nurse, operative first assistant and expert nurse injector. She is also one of the stars of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Dallas.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’d like to think that it was a steady road to the success I am enjoying today, but certainly there were many bumps along the way. We have had to weather several economic downturns over the last decade and a half; technologies are constantly evolving and it’s a challenge to decide which ones to embrace and where to focus our energy.
Alright – so let’s talk business. What should we know?
As a busy aesthetic plastic surgeon, any given operative day may include 3 or more breast surgeries, some liposuction and end with a mommy makeover (usually a breast augmentation or lift and tummy tuck) or a facelift.
I am probably most well-known for 24-hour recovery breast augmentation surgery, a technique developed by John Tebbetts, MD (now retired). I joined him in 2001 after training at UT Southwestern in Dallas. This cutting-edge approach to breast augmentation begins with patient education and precise surgical planning based on detailed patient measurements to determine ideal implant size, pocket placement and incision location. Meticulous surgical technique leads to the absolute minimal tissue trauma and virtually no bleeding. This allows us to manage patients postoperatively with early motion and pain management requiring only Ibuprofen (Motrin or Advil) with absolutely no narcotics needed! Patients require minimal time off work and can resume almost all normal activities of daily living within 24 hours after surgery. They are only restricted from weight lifting and strenuous exercise for 3 weeks after surgery.
We are able to deliver the 24-hour recovery experience to virtually all of our breast patients including those desiring a lift, a lift with implants or a breast reduction. What’s truly great about this is our patients don’t need much time away from their busy lives/schedules. They can be perfectly comfortable getting back to work or taking care of their kids or driving carpool within a day (or a few days) of their procedure.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I definitely attribute my success to my perseverance, attention to detail and desire to always try to be and do better. Perhaps we can never achieve true perfection, but we will never approach it unless we strive every day to do better than we did yesterday.
