Meet Celeste Clark in Denton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Celeste Clark.

Celeste, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in the greatest state of North Texas, and it shows. My southern pride runs deep! I remember spending hours at my kitchen table with my dad, drawing caricatures and tracing his lines to make sure mine were just as perfect. My parents were very supportive of mine and my siblings’ endeavors no matter how big or small… so I have very fond childhood memories filling my sketchbooks with ideas they would give me. My love for drawing, creating and crafting only grew as I got older and expanded to anything I could get my hands on. My fashion sense was always outside the box, interior decor choices were always something special or handmade.. everything I touched was art in some sense (and still is!). And here I am today, still the same curious little girl, thinking of what I can make next. I am truly lucky my “job” has become what I love most – painting original ideas and creating artwork for others to enjoy around the world!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think the initial decision to pursue artwork full time was a smooth transition. It felt right and empowering to feel 100% confident in myself and worthy to sell my work. At 20 years old, you don’t really have much experience under your belt when it comes to the business side of things. As with anything, there’s a massive learning curve and lots and lots of trial and error. Paper choices, printing malfunctions, expenses, website design, customer support… it’s a very messy process behind the scenes and can be overwhelming, especially for a one-man show! But thankfully, my father instilled a hard-working entrepreneur (ahem – workaholic) in me, and somehow I’m still standing. I also give my husband a lot of credit, he’s my lifeline anytime business gets hard!

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a full-time artist and a professional artist. I specialize in watercolor painting, but can paint just about anything I am asked! Anything floral related is totally my preferred work. I do a lot of wedding work like custom invitations, signage, envelope addressing. I also love painting pet portraits, family portraits, home portraits. I’ve done anything from watercolor portraits to tapestries to wallpaper. I’ve tried dipping my toes in just about anything art related and I’m excited to start leaning towards new things like home decor and clothing!
