Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Pang.
Jenny, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was a young girl in China, I would watch my mother sew clothes for the family. I loved playing with my mother’s sewing machine and as I grew older I learned to make many of my own clothes and accessories. After finishing school, I became a professional singer and continued sewing by making many of my own evening gowns for my performances. My dream was to get involved in fashion design. Later I opened my own fashion house in China. I make some of the clothes and sold them in my shop. Since I moved to the United States, I took a job as a tailor in Illinois and learned to work with men’s clothes. I did not enjoy the cold climate since I am from southern China and decided to relocate to Texas. Since coming to Texas, I took a position with another tailor shop working on wedding gowns. I prefer to have my own business so I started Perfect Stitch. I wanted to offer customers a unique tailoring experience with a personal touch.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When I first started looking for a location to setup my business I ran into many frustrations finding real estate that fit the needs of a small personalized tailoring business. As you can imagine many locations were either way too large or not in an area with easy access. Also, no one knew me in McKinney. I decided to start a home-based business by converting the front entry/dining room into my tailor shop. Through advertising on the internet people quickly began to find me. I discovered that many people appreciate the private service and my attention to detail at a fair price.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Perfect Stitch – what should we know?
Perfect Stitch is a personalized private tailoring/alteration business. I enjoy working with customers to achieve their dreams. There is nothing better than the satisfaction that comes with seeing the happiness of young girls in their prom dresses, brides getting ready for their weddings in elegant gowns and gentlemen in a well-tailored suit. The satisfaction from knowing my hours of labor have make their special moments that much better with their clothes fitting their best is very fulfilling. This is only possible by putting quality first and foremost.

My boyfriend has been my biggest advocate and instrumental in setting up my web site, my advertising, and my shop. He setup my sewing machines, lights, mirrors, and even my credit card machine. He has been wonderful and very supportive of my business.
