Meet Jelisa Carroll of The Last Vue in Northeast Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jelisa Carroll.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
During my childhood, my dad was always playing around with a camera or camcorder – from Polaroid to digital. He loved capturing memories whether they were of celebrations, my brother and I playing around, or catching someone with a stylish look. My dad definitely led me to my love of capturing moments and style with a camera.

In college, I met some cool people who were actual photographers and overall creators of various forms of art. Seeing them create made me want to further explore my interest in photography and here I am today with The Last Vue!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve definitely had some losses when it came to certain shots during a shoot and the overall outcome not matching up with my vision (issues could range from lighting, camera set up, location, etc). Many creators can agree that this is all trial and error. Getting up and creating isn’t as easy as it looks, but I’d rather make mistakes and learn what to change than to not to create at all.
Please tell us about The Last Vue.
As a photography business, The Last Vue’s purpose is to create a forever memory of a beautiful sight last seen. Be it of your art, fashion, strength, or love. I thrive in outdoor portraiture and take advantage of natural lighting. I’m proud that my photography reminds my clients of their uniqueness. Sometimes, as individuals, we all forget that God created no one else like us.
Each of us have something interesting (ie: physical features or presence) to marvel at about each other. We have got to show appreciation for that and I use my art form to do so. Also, no matter if we’re meeting for the first time or the fourth time, best believe that I’ll make you laugh and loosen up during the shoot! Most of the time I don’t do it intentionally….and I’m fine with that haha! Laugh at my ridiculousness (I do and say unexpected things, politely). Whatever makes you genuinely smile.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Playing outside with my brother or friends in the middle of the Fall season. I loved being outside – feeling and breathing the cool air – being active and coming up with new games or “scenarios” we acted out. Scenarios such as being a guest on The Oprah Show, a wrestler on WWF Smackdown, running into a crush in the hallway, performing at a concert, or free styling an acceptance speech at The Grammy’s (tears and all). Ridiculous, I’m well aware. I’ve got a great imagination haha! Now that I think about it, I need to appreciate it more.
