Today we’d like to introduce you to Umbreen Jangda-Rabbani.
Umbreen, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
For as long as I can remember I’ve always been fascinated by creating things. I’ve dabbled in everything from glass painting to Henna body art and many others. I’ve always had a creative energy that drives me to explore and create and while I’ve enjoyed a lot of different mediums I’ve tried my hand at I finally found my true passion with what I do now. When I started decorating our home, I wanted artwork and decor that was a little rustic, warm, and had a little bit of that farmhouse vibe but that also represented my faith. I soon found out what I wanted wasn’t out there, not in the way I envisioned. That drove me to create pieces that I wanted in my home, and The Wrapped Home grew from that love.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Growing up as an American Muslim I always saw home decor and holiday decorations that I wished were also made for my faith and holidays. Slowly we are starting to see Ramadan and Islamic Decor become a little more mainstream, but it’s still not something that is readily available in stores. Instead, it’s being made by artists and crafters like myself who are making their vision a reality one piece at a time. My goal is to make pieces that are strong and durable that can last for years and most of all, affordable.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
