Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayra Salinas.
Mayra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It wasn’t until my college years that I recognized the hustle that had been instilled in me by my hardworking parents who went above and beyond to ensure their children had access to the education they needed to thrive.
It really all started in 3rd grade when my brother and I noticed that our after-school program lacked in the snack game. We somehow persuaded our mom to buy chips & candy from Sam’s Club so we could sell to our friends who were over apples & bananas. Let’s just say hot Cheetos were our best sellers! Haha.
Looking back, our entrepreneurial spirit was fiery and only grew throughout the years. My brother has and will always be my business partner, sounding board, and voice of reason. Given our teamwork, we later helped with the family business and continued to collaborate on various entrepreneurial ventures that include real estate, construction, and even opening a coffee shop/workout studio/co-working space one day. Anyone out there reading this and wants to make my dreams come true, just let me know! I’m in.
Eventually, the “Salinas Think Tanks” that consisted of business ideas discussed over family meals turned into helping others turn ideas into side hustles, including my own. After a year of brainstorming, planning, and lots of hesitation sprinkled with imposter syndrome, I finally put my passion project out there!
Mayra Salinas: Business + Life Coaching allows me to help multi-passionate people write sh*t down + get sh*t done. My experience as an entrepreneur and higher education professional truly intersect and grant me the opportunity to utilize my gifts to get to know, connect, and empower people to chase their own ideas and dreams.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. The road towards creating and launching my own coaching business (any business, really) comes with obstacles that include all types of business nuances most entrepreneurs learn along the way. While this part can be exciting given the opportunity to learn something new and dive deeper into an industry, I think the hardest thing is what I call “soul work.”
Being able to embody unconditional love, peace, and live authentically is challenging work – especially with social media. I really struggled aligning my personal/professional values with my work. However, taking the leap to finally invest in myself and hiring a life coach myself made a noticeable difference. I’m getting there, slowly but surely. We all are. I think practicing mindfulness, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence daily is a constant struggle but I truly believe that it helps me understand my life purpose more and more everyday.

I’m a multi-passionate Latinx millennial that embodies grit, connectedness, and freedom in everything I do. I am an entrepreneur + higher education professional that helps people write sh*t down + get sh*t down.
I specialize in career development (think resume + interview prep), business strategy for new entrepreneurs, and lifestyle design (think workshops + event planning).
My coaching sessions are centered around The KCE Model – Know, Connect and Empower.
KNOW: I am an empathetic listener that wants to learn about you and your WHY. I work with clients to clarify values and how they align with their ideas and goals. I genuinely want to get to know YOU.
CONNECT: My strength is “connectedness” and I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I have the unique ability to ‘connect the dots’ between what is happening in the here and now with deep personal meaning. If you know me, you’ll know that I am always trying to connect people to people, places, purpose, and resources. I am a known connector of all things and I capitalize on that strength every day.
EMPOWER – I understand that only you can truly empower yourself + that is my goal. My personal and professional goal is for people to feel empowered to do whatever they want! Once I get to know the real you, your passions, and goals, I start connecting you. Once you experience the power of feeling connected to the universe, you feel empowered to achieve anything!
My coaching sessions mirror life with me – I’m casual af, fun, and motivating with a (heavy) sprinkle of accountability. I will make sure you literally write sh*t down and get sh*t done.
My sessions are client-focused and tailored for each specific individual I meet. You’ll see hints of brainstorming + brainwriting techniques, entrepreneurial mindset thinking, honest feedback, higher education theory and practices, and sage advice when asked.
I strive to help people build a growth mindset + grit in order to thrive and live life outside of all the boxes we are placed in by society. I pride myself on being emotionally + culturally intelligent, self-aware, inclusive, and an ally for all. Now, let’s get connected and see how we can support each other.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Connectedness. Things happen for a reason. I am sure of it. I am sure of it because in my soul I know that we are all connected. Yes, we are individuals, responsible for our own judgments and in possession of our own free will, but nonetheless, we are part of something larger. I think being able to connect with people on a real level has given me the platform to truly know, connect, and empower people in my own fun and authentic way.
