Today we’d like to introduce you to CatAleah.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
For as long as I’ve been able to walk, I have been fascinated by the natural world, with my main focus being towards the more scaley variety, aka the reptiles of the animal kingdom. At a young age, I taught myself about them through the great Steve Irwin, VHS videos about nature, and by catching and learning about any small animals that I could find. I made it my mission to learn as much as I could about all of the animals that I loved, even though this profound drive to help animals was not a collective feeling shared by my immediate family. These reptilian animals were seen as dangerous, scary, and not something to cherish, rather, something to fear. Even though this was an idea instilled in me from the beginning, it did not fester and was rather a drive that I used to intensify my desire to help and educate the world about these animals later in life. This remains my biggest most underlying passion; however, I have also been interested in a myriad of other ideas and fascinations, all of which I dreamed of turning into a career someday and being able to monetize what I love and what I am passionate about. Thus, my YouTube channel was born. I began making videos at a young age, trying my best to find a creative outlet to release all of my ideas and dreams for the world to see. By honing this intense focus and using the struggles and failures that I have experienced in life to better myself, I made what I am passionate about into my job, and because of this, I never have to work another day in my life.
Please tell us about your art.
When it comes to creativity, I have many inspirations, most of which I express in my YouTube channel in the hope that others will see it and be inspired to help each other, help the planet, and help the animals. I make educational and entertaining content about animals, with the underlying message of why they should be important to us, even the ones that the majority of society would often deem not worthy of love and appreciation. As well as this, I try to promote proper pet care, promote the conservation of the natural world, and promote the idea that the animals can show us what is really important: love, acceptance, and kindness to all, even those that are misunderstood. With my YouTube channel, I also express my love for music through singing and songwriting, I create art in many forms including modeling and traditional art, and I travel the world, documenting it all. My art is basically a vessel for expressing my ideas and thoughts to those that will see it and hear it.
We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Loneliness and isolation is something that I still fight and struggle with, and I truly believe that is observable in most artists. It seems that our need to constantly express our creativity and dream of new ideas can bring us down if not utilized in the right way. I strongly believe that having a healthy relationship with your creativity can keep you from isolating yourself and open new doors for meeting others who share the same inventiveness and aspirations.
