Thanks for sharing your story with us Celeste. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Born in Hot Springs, AR, raised in Atlanta, GA and bred in Memphis, TN.
I was never a stranger to hard work! I always had at least two jobs and then landed an IT job for Hilton Worldwide Corporate offices at 21. I relocated to Dallas with Hilton and didn’t look back! The economy here in Dallas was amazing. I felt like my options were limitless! It pushed me to be better and fulfill all the things I ever thought I could do. I went to Paul Mitchell, the School while juggling my full-time job and being a single parent. I always felt like I was pretty good at doing hair and makeup but I would only do my own and a few friends and family members.
With the constant support and motivation of family and friends, I started Alterego by Celeste. I took the time to hone my skills by practicing and consistently investing in classes from local favorites to celebrity stylists. Today I’m blessed to have a successful business providing professional weaving services, custom wigs, and professional makeup! To be able to provide a service that makes my clients feel more confident and beautiful has an amazing effect on them, inevitably allowing their alter ego to shine through.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I decided to pursue my dreams to be an entrepreneur, there were definitely some bumps in the road! There was a time I didn’t have a home because I couldn’t afford the rent. My son and I stayed with different family members and one of my best friends. I finally decided to stop dwelling on what I didn’t have and be grateful for what I did have. A strong support system kept me lifted to not give up and go back to a job. I kept going and when you are doing what you love, the success will come. Being an entrepreneur has its moments, I tell you. There aren’t any days off. I had to learn how to manage my workload and manage being a good mom and now fiancé.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Alterego By Celeste – what should we know?
Alterego by Celeste provides professional services for all things beauty! I specialize in weaving, hand-sewn custom wigs, lashes, and I am also a professional make up artist. I provide services for women of all walks of life. My services have been sought out for weddings, proms, and major television networks! My work has been featured in several nationwide magazine publications as well. This November will be five years that I have been an entrepreneur and I am most proud that I am able to be an example to my son that he can be whatever he wants to be in life. No matter your age or when you start, you just have to start. My customer service and rapport I feel is what sets me aside from most. They are like extended family it’s no joke that I sometimes fill the role of hair stylist, psychiatrist, best friend, and sometimes big sis to my clients. I provide a private and intimate setting for my clients where they can unwind and be themselves!
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel that remaining humble and thankful for all of my struggles and blessings are the most important characteristics to the success of Alterego by Celeste.
