Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Villegas.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I guess you could say that I’ve been a photographer since I was young. I started taking photos and fell in love with photography when I was part of my middle school Yearbook team, and my passion for photography continued into high school and eventually became a business when I was in my twenties. It’s always been in my heart and soul to document everything and everyone around me. I’ve been a photographer for nine years, but when my husband and I moved to Texas a little over three years ago from California, it meant building a new network and establishing new relationships in another state. All I can say is that the past few years have been awesome, and I’ve had the chance to meet some amazing people! I feel extremely blessed to do what I do and honored that people trust me to document their most precious memories. Let’s hope that continues for years to come!
Please tell us about your art.
I am a natural light, wedding and portrait photographer in North Dallas, Texas. I would describe my photographic style as, joyful, authentic and vibrant. I find happiness in making people laugh and feel good about themselves and try to portray that feeling through my images. When I can make someone feel confident and beautiful in front of the lens while creating photos that they can hang on their walls, then I’m a happy camper! My goal is to walk away from every session and know that my clients just became friends and that they truly enjoyed themselves.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
The one thing that I wish I would have learned earlier in my career as a photographer is to not compare myself and my work to others’. For a long time, I tried to make my images look like everyone else’s by replicating their style, but it just wasn’t me. My advice is to quit trying to be like everyone else and just do YOU! Be true to who you are, what you represent, and have confidence in yourself and your brand. There is a lot of competition out there, especially in the photography world, but when you’re original it will show and people will take notice.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can view my work by visiting my website: www.brittanyvillegas.com and you can support my work by booking a session and/or referring your friends and family! Sharing the images I capture on social media is a fantastic way to support my work, as well.
