Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Velasquez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Carlos. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Dallas, TX. I had the same childhood as any kid, play games, play outside with my friends.
Years passed and at the age of 19, its when I figured out that I listen to a lot of music and have the passion for it, to where I can listen to the instruments that are playing in every song.
I was wondering on why was that, that’s when it clicked and wanted to know more about music and how it worked so while I was working I decided to learn on how to make music, time passed that I revealed to myself that I can make not just one but many other genre type music to where I can make multi-genre beats. I was so good and talented that I figured out what I wanted to do with my life, to be a Music Engineer and t learn the business! So, several years passed and was improving on my music skills, I found myself at MediaTech Institute, which is a college that offers different branches such as Film, App/Web Design, and Recording Arts, which is the one I chose because I want to become a Music Engineer/Producer!
My ultimate goal is to open up my own studio and work with artist and producers to make Genre Bending music and to provide my services to Mix and Master their music. And also, expand to work on music for TV & film.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
In honesty, I really didn’t know where to go or to start doing when I was younger, I was lazy and just having fun at that time to where I didn’t even get my GED still and just wasting money on stupid stuff, I felt lost in my life and didn’t realized it, even if I did start on making music. Time passed and then, that’s when I met the most important person in my life, she motivated me and showed me to go reach my goals and to not procrastinate and from there I did and finally decided to apply to MediaTech, and from there, I felt like my life had meaning and light and the music to show my emotion and talent.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success is about doing my job well. I want to be recognized as someone who always does their best and tries their hardest to make my goals.
What I look out for myself is Character in solitude, Contentment in circumstance, Courage during adversity & Faithfulness in commitment.
