Today we’d like to introduce you to Loren Silas.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
For most of my career, I worked in corporate America in pharmaceutical sales. For a long time, I really loved my job and felt motivated to go to work. However, after some time, I started wanting to do something that I was truly passionate about, something that was my own and a position where I could give back to the community and help people feel good about themselves. I just wasn’t sure what my next career path would be exactly. Therefore, I tabled the idea. However, when my daughter was born everything changed for me. For me, my corporate America role didn’t mesh well with how I wanted my role as a mom to be. I started feeling so much anxiety while at work and guilt for not being a bigger part of my daughter’s life. My two worlds weren’t meshing and a job that I once loved became something that I hated. I wanted to be there with her when she was sick, pick her up from school, help her with homework, host after school playdates, and have fun adventures spending our precious summers together. That’s where my heart was. I’m so blessed that I had the support of my husband and we had the financial ability that allowed me to make the leap and quit my job. Even though one income significantly cut our extra spending, it was one of the best decisions of my life.
As she got older and started school, I started having more time to think about what my dreams were outside of motherhood. I knew I wanted to start my own business. Being a business owner would eventually allow me the ability to make my own schedule that was flexible around my family. It was also a way that I could give back to my community. We researched different businesses for years and decided that a great franchising opportunity was the best direction. My husband was ultimately the one who brought The Lash Lounge concept to me and encouraged me to once again take a leap of faith. The Lash Lounge was a perfect fit for what I had been looking for. It is a brand new franchise that strongly supports women empowerment in the beauty industry with a lot of growth opportunity.
Fast forward to today and I’m proud to say that I have a newly open salon in the heart of Frisco!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
First off, finding the right location that also met the franchise requirements was harder and took much longer than expected. However, patience paid off and I ended up with a location that I love. I have had the usual struggles most new businesses have; construction, staffing, and then just all the tweaks that have to take place once you actually start servicing customers. The first few months were very hard, stressful and exhausting. However, we are now in our 6th month and things have gotten easier. I now have a very strong crew and they have been instrumental in helping get the salon off to a fast start.
From a personal standpoint, transitioning into my role as a mompreneur was the greatest challenge. About four months after we signed the papers to open several salons, we ended up getting exciting, yet unexpected, news that I was pregnant with my son, Knox. I gave birth several months before we opened the Frisco salon and then it was off to the races. Even though transitioning into my new role as a mother of two (Landry 9, Knox 1) and new business owner at the same time has definitely tested my strength, I feel incredibly fortunate for the amazing blessings in my life.

I’m proud that The Lash Lounge franchise was founded by an amazing mompreneur, Anna Phillips, and also led by women passionate about helping other women look and feel their best.

Success to me is being able to run a profitable business that I’m passionate about, while still being able to enjoy and care for my family.
