Meet Jazmine Williams of Wear it Out

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmine Williams.

Jazmine, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always loved fashion ever since I was a young girl. I used to create my own “catalogs” by drawing outfits that included accessories and shoes on a piece of paper and kept them all together in a binder. In my free time, I always loved doing this and looking at clothes in magazines.

As I grew older, my love for fashion continued. I always found a way to incorporate fashion into my life in both school and job choices. In high school, I discovered that fashion and marketing/advertising was my true passion and I was sure that I wanted to make this a long-term career. Sophomore year of high school, I started working in retail and worked in the industry until 2018. I started as a sales associate at Victoria Secret, then a style specialist at Charming Charlie, a photo shoot coordinator for a local boutique, a manager at Charming Charlie to finally a National Stylist at Trunk Club – a Nordstrom company, which was my first major job out of college.

For years, I’ve always had friends, family, and strangers consistently compliment my style. Every time someone asked me for help or advice, I would get really excited because it made me more confident with my styling abilities. In 2014 this inspired me to start my style page on Instagram @_wearitout. When I first started my page, I wanted to focus on affordable style inspiration. With me being a college student at the time, I did not have tons of money to spend on designer looks and accessories. However, this is all I primarily seen on other style pages I followed. I wanted my page to be different and relatable so I targeted women like me – women who simply loved fashion and shopped at average stores like Forever 21, Zara, and H&M. It’s not about what you wear, it’s how you wear it. The way an outfit is put together makes the outfit unique. This idea inspired the title of my page Wear it Out. As it states in bio, “Embrace your style and WEAR IT OUT for the world to see.”

My long term hope and goal is to inspire women who follow my page. I want to push them to discover and share their personal style. By doing this, they’ll never know whom they’ll touch, inspire, or reach. A fabulous outfit can be a conversation starter, a moment to learn something new, or a complete confidence booster. I embrace every gift that fashion gives and this is why I share my style.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I definitely endured struggles along the way. When I first graduated from college, I was determined to find a job in the fashion industry. Of course, this is not an easy thing to do and I didn’t find my first job in the industry until a few months later. After being at the job for a year, I realized that the fashion industry is pretty demanding, so now I work at an advertising agency and I absolutely love it. Despite my career change, I still feel blessed to have my Instagram page @_wearitout that allows me to still express my love and gift of styling.

Wear it Out – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from others?
I am known for my personal style and sharing that on my Instagram page. Wear it out is not a business at this time, but I hope to grow my following and share my message to as many people as possible to one day turn it into a business.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I am blessed to work within industries that I love and actually went to college for which is amazing! For that, I am very proud of myself. Despite the doubts I had, hard work and prayer has put me in a great place in my career. Nowhere else to go but up from here!
