Today we’d like to introduce you to Adeline Rock.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I started capturing weddings because after my first experience in the industry, my heart leaped with joy when I saw moments of true love that affected everyone around the couple. The energy is something I knew I needed to be around, and it is a choice I have never regretted.
I started in media when I was 15, working under a photographer for PBS & fashion publications. After that, I tried several different mediums, such as video and print, but my heart always grew more towards photo. After my 10th internship, I started my own photography business and have had the amazing opportunity to work with the best couples.
The authentic moments I get to be apart of make me adore my job.
Please tell us about your art.
I have one main purpose for my photos: to invoke emotion in the viewer and the client. Capturing the REAL love between two people can be tricky if you don’t have that motive, and I am so lucky that couples choose me to document that for them.
I am a complete sucker for golden hour light and florals. If either can be involved, they will be.
What do you think about the conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I think that people seldom feel that artists work as hard as typical 9-5’s. While people with “normal” jobs, if you will, DO work incredibly hard, I do feel that everyday, artists are overlooked and taken for granted. We do what we do because there is nothing we love more, and therefore, all of our heart goes into our art.
On the flip side, we have an incredible community that shares support every day, and if you are lucky, you can find your tribe of creatives to support one another.
