Check out Jide Kola’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jide Kola.

Jide, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Football enthusiast by childhood.

Software Developer by training.

Photographer by life’s choice.

Happy person by design.

Started my career as a software developer working for a multinational corporation in design and implementation of banking solutions, but I got tired of chasing other people’s dreams and decided to chase mine. Has it been a stroll in the park… No! But it’s been an amazing story of stumbling blocks and huge victories.

It’s been a roller coaster ride but with 150 weddings under the belt, in 5 continents, 24 countries and well over 2 million images. We push!!!

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I shoot weddings; mostly African, African-American, and interracial.

I like to capture the essence and story of the subjects connecting with them more than just a photographer.

I’m a sucker for emotions and ambiance, and this reflects in all my photos.

I try to ensure all four dimensions of a photo are in it. The subject, the shooter, the environment, and the intended audience. Once all four are infused into making an image… I’m good.

Note that I said make… I don’t take photos… I make memories.

Do current events, local or global, affect your work and what you are focused on?
Artists have evolved from being secluded weird beings into socially loved and accepted influencers, by virtue of the confidence in us. We must use this medium to express, inspire, challenge, and drive change.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Just google MEEEEEE *lol*

But on a serious note, I’ve been featured in a lot of publications; my website – www.jidekola.com; my Instagram (and any other social networking platform) – @Jidekola; many married couples’ homes… and I’m working on my first book. Ssssshhhhhhhh.
