Meet Dr. Lacey Osterman of Invigorate Chiropractic in McKinney

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Lacey Osterman.

Dr. Osterman, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I graduated from Tarleton State University as an Animal Science major with an emphasis in Equine Sports Medicine. From there I attended Parker University with plans to specialize in animal chiropractic care. In my first few days at Parker, I was asked to write an essay over why I wanted to be a chiropractor and what I expected to learn. If we were to read that essay today we’d all be laughing. I was supposed to be the woman that treated horses and dogs, not people! Yet somewhere along the way in my education journey I found myself falling in love with working with children and babies. So, when it came time to choose between the animal program and the pediatric program, I chose pediatrics and become a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and Epic Pediatrics. It is such a joy treating children and getting to watch them grow and thrive.

In my first year or so out of school, I noticed a reoccurring issue. The children and babies coming in with “name-calling” diagnosis such as ADHD, Autism, Enursis, Colic, Ear Infections, etc. all had mothers struggling. Mothers that had problems during their pregnancy, birth or postpartum healing. The more I dove into this the more I realized there wasn’t much out there for mothers. In my quest to find more knowledge, literature, and a better way to help these women I found BIRTHFIT. I attended the BIRTHFIT Professional and Coaches seminars and knew this was something I needed to bring back to my community. So, when I opened up my own practice, Invigorate Chiropractic, I knew I wanted it to be a place that didn’t feel like a doctors office but a place that felt open, warm and safe for mothers and their families. A place that women felt supported in their motherhood transition. A way for me to do this was to become the Regional Director of BIRTHFIT McKinney, which serves women in all stages of the motherhood transition in the North Texas region. Shortly after opening my doors, I found many of my patients struggling with infertility and I knew I needed to be able to offer them more. So, I went back for more education and became a certified Mercier fertility specialist. We have had wild success in supporting women from infertility, preconception, pregnancy, birth, postpartum and their children. and yes we treat dad too! As for my most recent life adventure, I have gotten to experience my own motherhood transition as I brought my son earthside March of this year.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think opening up your own small business is ever a completely smooth road. From figuring out taxes, building a website, dealing with internet companies to making sure your overhead is covered. The biggest obstacle we faced was finding another chiropractor to bring on board for my maternity leave. Not any chiropractor can fit the mold of our clinic and it was going to take a special person for our patients to trust. After hours and hours of several interviews and countless dead ends, we found Dr. Meghan Irwin. You could say she is the jelly to my peanut butter. It was a long process but we couldn’t have found a better chiropractor to step in for me as I transitioned into becoming a mother. Our patients loved her so much that we couldn’t let her go and I hired her to stay full time.

Please tell us about Invigorate Chiropractic.
Invigorate Chiropractic is a family chiropractic office. We specialize in infertility cases, preconception, pregnancy, birth education, postpartum, and pediatrics. We are a small clinic that is known for creating a space for family wellness. We are also the home of BIRTHFIT McKinney. As a company, we are most proud of being a 100% word of mouth referral clinic. What sets us apart from other chiropractic clinics is our attention to detail and people and their families as a whole instead of a symptom or diagnosis. Our patients enjoy our home-like feeling. From our longer appointment times, the big playroom to our front desk always being stocked with balloons, stickers, and bubbles.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Man. It’s hard to narrow down just one favorite childhood memory. But I’d have to say the countless hours riding horses with my dad.
