Meet Trisha Finch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trisha Finch.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Trisha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My name is Trisha Finch and I was born and raised in a remote volcanic island in the far southern Philippines called Mindanao. I was brought up in a family of six children in a sleepy village where the landscape was dominated by coconut groves, lush rain forests, water buffaloes, and rice fields. I now have a college degree, own a house in Austin, and am a small business owner. In addition to my full-time day job, I have worked as a model and actress for the last five years. My story is a twisting adventure of ups and downs and my mother’s sacrifice that took me from provincial Southeast Asia to college, to getting a visa and permanent residency in the United States, and finally to becoming a business and homeowner, and actress in Austin, Texas.

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The breakthrough moment for me and my career was getting the visa to the US, and that was a big challenge. It took me years of planning before I submitted the application and it was approved. I had to make sure all the i’s were dotted and t’s crossed: long employment history, letters from employers supporting my history, ample savings in the bank, property ownership and business ownership in the Philippines.

I overcame one challenge but now face another. To succeed in modeling and acting takes resilience and determination, Austin offers great networking and job opportunity to anyone who is willing to accept the rejection that is routine when auditioning, and I know I have the resolve to keep moving forward despite disappointment. Life is just a series of challenges and we overcome one challenge only to face a new and exciting one.

Tell us more about the business.
At Adana Bath and Beauty, we work to blend Filipino products with Filipino culture. The company is still very small, but we import and make a variety of products, such as soaps and beauty products blended with Filipino ingredients such as coconut oil. We create and market our products with the beautiful and interesting culture and history of the Philippines.

The other important part of my life is my acting and modeling career. Austin has great socioeconomic diversity, and this has actually helped me as an Asian actress/cosplayer find more work here because of the growing need for different faces and backgrounds in acting jobs.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The thing I like least about Austin is the traffic. We have terrible traffic. It’s the worst thing about Austin.

The best thing about Austin is its dynamic business and art scene. Austin is becoming the tech capital of the Southwest, and there is a lot of acting, film and modeling opportunities created in the wake of the tech boom. A recent example of the bond between tech and film here is renowned director and producer James Cameron choosing Austinite and UT graduate Robert Rodriquez to direct the CGI intensive movie Alita. The studio also placed three theatre venues across the country, in New York, Los Ángeles, and Austin, where Alita character-based actors interacted with the audience. I had the opportunity to work as an actress at the Austin theatre location and even got to meet Robert Rodriguez. Austin offers a world of opportunity.

Also, I will be starred in this three series short films directed by Robert Butler whom I met on Instagram and he casted me for Sisters Templar, he’s a director base in Dallas and this will be his second short film.
