Meet Mike Delaurier of Maple Leaf Diner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Delaurier.

We are from Canada, and our family started in the restaurant business in 1967.

Michael moved to Dallas in 2007 on a different adventure, and noticed a need for some good home cooking. Michael convinced Debra his aunt, who just happens to be a Red Seal Chef to move to Dallas and open a restaurant with him. We decided to bring a little Canadian cuisine and mix it with little bit of the south. On September of 2015 the Maple Leaf Diner was born, and immediately filled the much needed void for some home cooking. We are a scratch kitchen and create all our dishes and desserts in house. We are a little over the top with our towering presentation, huge portions and our delicious combinations. We also sell Wine, Liquor and some Canadian beer, you can also have a drink and dessert at the same time with one of our adult milkshakes. My favorite is our Hummer which is Kahlua and Bacardi Rum mixed with Henrys homemade vanilla ice cream with a chocolate swirl, topped with whipped cream and a cherry.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Finding the right location was a little difficult as well as finding the right staff, but now we have a solid team in place and we just keep growing. It’s been a gradual increase of customers, as my saying goes “eat here just once and you will be our customer for life.”

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Maple Leaf Diner – what should we know?
We are a family business, that realizes that every customer is important and we strive to make every dish is absolutely perfect. We are a scratch kitchen so we make almost everything and the things we don’t make we find the best like Henrys Homemade ice cream. We make everything fresh, and over the top visually and delicious.

We are a diner and there are not many diners in Dallas, we serve breakfast lunch and dinner. We great food, great portions at a great price.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Our loyal customer base who constantly promotes our business through word of mouth, this is the way we have grown our business.
