Today we’d like to introduce you to Preston Wetherington.
Preston, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Nifty Fifty Films started in March 2017 when I got asked to film a friend’s wedding. I was talking with my boss at the time, who is also a videographer and we began to realize that we can make a good side business out of this. The name is inspired by the 50mm lens nicknamed “Nifty Fifty” that many photographers/videographers use. We began to expand beyond wedding videography into corporate and video promotion, which we both did daily for the company we were with. Eventually, my old boss wanted to focus more on his day job and his venture. Since then, Nifty Fifty has worked with various colleges, non-profits, real estate companies, and much more!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Far from a smooth road! The majority of the struggles over the last couple of years have been in my personal life, we went through some very deep valleys, but in the midst of it, my wife and I got married and she was my rock through all of the struggles and has been my number one supporter.
Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
Nifty Fifty Films is a video production company that specializes in corporate videography. We love to help businesses and non-profits tell their story in a creative, compelling way. As a company, I’m most proud of the relationships we have made. We’ve been thankful that to date, we have not had a client dissatisfied with the end product we have given them. What sets us apart from others is what will be coming in the next few months, but it’s a little soon to share that. 🙂
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
That’s such a difficult question, there is a lot to be proud of. I would say my proudest moment of my career so far is a documentary that I got to shoot about five years ago. At the time, he was a 97-year-old man who competes in track competitions. He is a former war veteran that began running at the age of 50 and has more than 20 world records in various age groups at different distances. His story was so wonderful and I am extremely humbled that I had the opportunity to share his story.
