Today we’d like to introduce you to Shahla Shahmiri.
Chef Shahla is a cookbook author, mother, health food activist and philanthropist. Raised in a small town in Iran by her herbalist, grandmother. People came from all around for advice from her grandmother on the types of herbs and spices which could help cure their ailments.
It was from her Grandmother that Chef Shahla developed a love for cooking and a passion for creating tasty recipes to support health and nutrition. In 2008, Shahla immigrated to the U.S. to continue her education and research in nutrition. It was here that she began working with cancer patients, creating menus to support their recovery. It was her experience working with these patients that led Shahla to look for a way to share her passion for creating healthy, delicious food, with an even wider audience.
SAFFRON GIRL is the fulfillment of Chef Shahla’s vision to help others experience the amazing benefits of life balanced in mind, body and spirit. Shahla hopes to have a positive impact, no matter how small it may be, on the lives of each and every person who walks through her door.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As I was going through some tough times after my divorce and I realized “This is it, this is the moment that can make me or break me.” Looking back I realized that this is the moment where I had to gather all of my strength, and with God’s help I made it through. In those moments you have to just have to close your eyes and just let it happen. I was able to stand up dust off the pain, tears, anger and the past and move forward. Or as I always say to my friend: visualize the whole situation that you are in, from another perspective.
At a 3000 foot view, you can look down and see the big picture. As I watched everything in my past drift away, I knew I had to jump in the deep in. It was sunk or swim and guess what? I didn’t drown! Now, I find myself swimming towards the shore, to a place which is so bright and beautiful; it is the place where my dreams are coming to fruition. What’s more is not only can I make my dreams come true, but I can help other women discover their true potential. I see the day that Saffrongirl will be the place full of strong and independent women, working side by side. Together we will create a sisterhood where we all empower each other.
I am getting closer to my dream each day!
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I have been cooking since I was nine years old so, as you can imagine its a lifetime of cooking but my true passion was always to come up with a perfect meal to be delicious, and healthy so after years of experimenting, and cooking finally I created a perfect pizza!1 I call it ” The Healthiest Pizza On Earth ” it is Gluten-free and Keto!
