Today we’d like to introduce you to Laurette Mesure.
Laurette, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started my brand on June 2nd, 2018. Since I am a former fashion model and love everything fashion, it just came naturally. Growing up, when I saw individuals who were not dressed properly in my opinion, I would always want to style them myself. My dream since I was a child was to become a fashion designer and stylist but I didn’t have the money or finances back home in Africa to bring it to fruition. Coming to the United States was an open door to accomplish my dreams of becoming a stylist and that’s where I am now.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it was not a smooth road because styling is not just dressing someone. There are many factors such as skin tone, body shape, height, bone structure, etc. It’s not easy at all especially if you don’t have a team such as an assistant. The challenge I have right now is arranging everything by myself. The advice I can give is that you have to have passion, if you don’t have a passion, it’s easy to quit. Never do it for fun, fun expires but passion is everlasting. Also, you have to make sure to have the knowledge and tools about the industry.
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I’m a fashion stylist and personal shopper. I style individuals for different occasions such as weddings, photoshoots, video shoots, speaking engagements, and much more. I specialize in styling women and am known for my luxurious looks. My happiness lies within knowing my clients are fully satisfied. Their feedback always brings me the utmost joy. What sets me apart from others is my unique style which speaks for itself. I never need to introduce myself to a room because my style speaks for me.
