Today we’d like to introduce you to Quang Nguyen.
Quang, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Being a Licensed Educator at Bale Beauty Academy since 2011, I have always been involved in the beauty industry. We wanted to be one of the first cosmetology school in DFW to offer the Eyelash licensing course. With extensive training, I obtained my Eyelash License, spent the next two years attending numerous specialty workshops, working alongside the top eyelash artist in the industry. Past forward to the present we have Licensed and Certified 700+ students over the years. Exactly one year, I create Kalon Lash Training were we specialize in 1 on 1 and group eyelash training to be able to give students the opportunity to learn a craft that can totally change their lives. For myself, I was always artistic and learned well by observing and doing so for me to learn this trade it completely changed my life and allowed me to do the things I enjoyed in life.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
With any road to success, there will be ups and down but I am a firm believer that every obstacle is for you, not against you. Before I created Kalon Lash Training, I had a choice to make and that was to turn down a great opportunity to join and be apart from one of the biggest and well-known eyelash training companies in the industry. It was a personal decision of mine to decline because our perspectives and end goals were different. A very tough decision but looking back now it was the best decision yet!
The meaning behind “Kalon” is a group of people who associate closely. When building my team, I’ve come across a lot of highly motivated individuals who are knowledgeable in their craft but were only present for their self benefits. I am a strong believer in order to achieve all goals the people around you should have the same vision and energy. I would say that it is the most difficult and crucial part of building a team.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Kalon Lash Training – what should we know?
The primary goal of Kalon Lash Training is to provide our students with hands-on experience in class in order to be successful outside of the classroom setting. Being a student myself attending many eyelash course, I can personally say the way we teach, how we teach, and what we teach is the BEST eyelash course you can attend.
At Kalon we focus on value, what can we provide to our students that others don’t? We’ve teamed up with our Digital Marketing Expert to teach our students the importance of how to utilize social media, understanding the algorithm, price point your services, utilizing your insights, build your own personal brand, and how to beat social media at its own game.
Being in this industry for almost a decade, there are a couple of things that stood out to me. Attending these workshops that host 20-30 students with only 2-3 lash artist, I was not able to get that 1 on 1 interaction that every lash artist needs. We learn best by being shadowed, having an educator hand correcting and explaining the reasons behind their techniques and that is what separates our training from others.
To provide our students with hands-on experience in class in order to be successful outside of classroom setting means everything to us and for that reason, we keep our classes to a minimum in order to provide the one-on-one training with all of our students.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I owe all the success of Kalon Lash Training to our students. Thank you for putting trust in me to guide you through this journey of yours, thank you for investing your time and education it really is an absolute pleasure working along side you all!
