Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridgett N. Green.
Bridgett, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After years of watching my mother style hair out of our home, I began to try different styles on my dolls and eventually my sister and I. At the age of 11 years old, I picked up were my mother left off and began to style my friends’ hair for school money. It wasn’t long before my mother’s friends and family members started lining up in our home on weekends to get their hair styled. I eventually realized that I had developed a passion for not only styling hair but revitalizing it. In September of 2008, I graduated from Healthy Hair Academy in Dallas, TX and received my license in November of 2008. Over the years, I have become more than a stylist/healthy hair specialist. I am an event planner, wedding coordinator, eyelash tech, and the creator of Bounce Healthy Hair products. I have created a ‘One Stop Shop’ that makes all of my client’s beauty fantasies a reality.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This journey hasn’t always been easy. My biggest mistake was losing my vision to the opinions of others and what they felt was best for my life. I struggled with believing in myself many days and I even stopped for a while but the greatest, yet rewarding, struggle on my journey has been picking myself up and never letting my vision die. Regardless of what one may see, hear, or feel that’s contrary to their vision; I would advise all women to never stop believing in themselves and to surround themselves with like-minded women.
Please tell us about Lady-B-licious Stylz – what should we know?
I am a healthy hair specialist with a goal to restore, grow, and maintain strong hair. Although I specialize in healthy hair, I’m known for being a ‘one-stop-shop’.
Eyelashes, eyebrows, make-up, weaving, braids, coloring, and haircuts are among the many other services I provide for all ethnicities and genders. I take pride in knowing that all of my customers, whether kids or adults, can always expect to step into a family-friendly environment and receive five-star customer service.
So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well-positioned for?
The world we live in today creates limitless opportunities for women. I feel that women have become more aware of the power in unity, therefore, causing us to create strong support systems and participate in creating opportunities for women to be the best version of themselves. Society has created a platform that has positioned women to be and do whatever their hearts desire. Individual determination will power, and ambition have to be a part of the driving forces that will allow any woman to succeed in taking advantage of the endless opportunities offered to her today.
