Meet Darius Lemons of Blueprint Performance in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Darius Lemons.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I was always told by family and friends that I was going to have a career that involved sports. I was born and grew up in Cleveland, Mississippi where I played basketball, football, baseball, and soccer. Being involved with sports was basically year-round growing up as a kid in Mississippi. The love I have for sports is unmatched. I was ready to take on the next level of sports in junior high until my family decided to move to Dallas, Texas. This move to Texas made me nervous because I knew nothing about the state of Texas. I must say the platform of sport was different in a lot of ways than Mississippi. Everything was different from the size of the schools to the size of the football fields. It was a different dynamic that I started to appreciate as I grew older. The love for sports became serious and more of taking care of business as a young man. I had dreams of playing on a professional level but God had other plans. Moving to Dallas showed me that I can still showcase my talent by training youth kids, high schoolers, and college athletes. Training athletes has kept me involved in the sports industry where I can help athletes perform at their highest potential.

I started my training business in January of 2017 because I wanted to help athletes reach their goals and provide mentorship to them. Whether you want to hone your existing skills or learn something completely new, Blueprint Performance can provide the guidance and support your need to succeed. Blueprint Performance also focuses on academics. The Blueprint will inspire athletes to do better academically and outline the importance of academics while pushing them to be the best athlete they can be.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has been great. It’s been three years since I’ve started Blueprint Performance and I appreciate the good and the challenges that comes with it. Before I started Blueprint Performance, I told myself it’s not going to be easy. I expected things to slow down during times of the business but I know I have to keep pushing to overcome anything. That is why I appreciate the challenges of the journey because I know the work we put in as a group will pay off in the long run. I tell my athletes daily that we have to run OUR race, and stick to the Blueprint.

Please tell us about Blueprint Performance.
Blueprint Performance is a brand that focuses on athletic performances and fitness for individuals. We help individuals reach their goals whether it’s physically or mentally. The goal of Blueprint Performance is to help individuals perform at an elite level and to expand in the educational world which will help athletes understand the importance of academics. As the owner of Blueprint Performance, I train athletes, mostly football players at the moment. With my football athletes, training is based on specific position skills training of a defensive back. During training, we focus on correct movements and mechanics in order to succeed at the position at an elite level.

As the owner of Blueprint Performance, I am proud of the progress the athletes have made. They have allowed me to help them grow as an athlete but most importantly as a person. Also, the relationships established with the parents. The amount of work we have put in as a group is unmatched. We still have more work to do to reach the level we want to be at. The work never stops. We are giving out the “Blueprint” to athletes to succeed and reach an elite level.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory was when I won MVP of city league baseball in Mississippi. It was my last time ever playing baseball before attending junior high and moving to Dallas, Texas. I still have the trophy and jersey I was awarded from the all-star game. The city league involved all of my childhood friends I grew up with. So, getting a chance to compete with them during that time will forever be remembered.
