Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordyn Copeland.
Jordyn, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
That’s tough to answer! There are so many things intertwined, but Ill try.
As a child, I was always saying things to my parents that was eerie to them, because it would end up happening at some point. Around the age of 9 or 10 I started having premonitions. One of the more impactful ones was a dream of a big tornado in my neighborhood. I told my dad the next morning there was going to be a tornado and we needed to clear out the space beneath the staircase to prepare. He told me it was a beautiful blue day, and not to worry. In the evening we were under a tornado warning, throwing everything from under the stairs out so we could fit. My dad was like “HOW DID YOU KNOW!” while he is looking out the back window, our tree is moving in circles because the tornado is right above us. Luckily it didn’t touch down right there, or we would probably be dead.
The premonitions continued into my teens. When I was 15 my great grandmother passed away. We traveled back home to Albuquerque to attend the funeral. She had 8 kids, 21 grandchildren and I was 1 of 30 plus great grandchildren. After her service, she came and visited me, while I was washing my face out of all places. She relayed messages for my dad, who was very close to her growing up, my family and myself. She told me she left me a gift. I asked her why in she was telling me out of everybody in the entire family. She said “You have the gift, mi Hiji.” I felt crazy but still gave my parents the message. They had me tell my grandmother the next day before we traveled back to Dallas. She seemed a little shocked but said “Grandma Great left you this…” and handed me a necklace. You have to understand, these messages weren’t easy to give or receive because my family was very religious. A few weeks later, after my family cleared out of the rest of Grandma Greats apartment, they confirmed the messages I passed along. My gifts continued to grow.
After high school I became a massage therapist/aroma therapist who was going through culinary school. Through both of those avenues I learned a lot about plants, energy, the food industry. It led me to begin making my own toothpastes/deodorants/body scrubs for my family to cut out the toxic chemicals. All organic, no fragrance oils.. only things from nature. I am a mom after all, and want my child to have clean products that aren’t carcinogenic. This was just a small hobby of mine. I was thankful for everything I learned from both of these careers (massage and culinary) fueled me with passion and continued to search for something that gave me that fire. Life happened and I was working as a executive assistant trying to pay bills, while also going through an expensive custody battle. I ended up getting fired. Then I lost my apartment. I almost found myself homeless with daughter. Luckily, I had a friend take us in 45 minuets south of where I was currently residing. It was a rough transition. I couldn’t find steady work in the new area I was staying in. My phone was shut off because I couldn’t pay the bill, my daycare check bounced, my bank account was over drafted and I only had $7 dollars and some change to my name. I needed a miracle! Out of desperation I looked up herbs for money spell. I used the 7 dollar bills I had, some tea lights, basil herb from the girl I was staying with, an essential oil and a citrine crystal. When I cast this intention out into the universe, I focused deep into my financial situation changing. Over the course of the next few days I doubled my money. A whopping $14. LOL. But HEY… It was working!! Actually, I was still hella stressed about the entire situation, but stayed positive. Later that week, everything shifted. I had a friend who needed a roommate in a busy area. She had a roommate already, who would become my nanny, and I got a job within 5 mins of my house and became very abundant. Wow! My spell worked. Not just worked…. But REALLY worked!
I had done some magick in the past, but nothing that worked to this degree and made me truly understand my power. I started practicing different spell work and delving deeper into my spiritual path. Moon Magick, Love spells, herbs, oils, tarot…All of it. I couldn’t shut up about witchcraft if I’m being honest. I started holding circles and teaching others how to manipulate energy and manifest a different reality.
Then I had I was sick of the job that I was doing… again, no passion. I was spending all my spare time creating new products, making soap or doing spell work. Bingo. I can shift my reality? I don’t like my job… I have fallen deeply in love with creating home made products and magick?! Why am I not sharing this!?
This is kind of where my business was born. I was already making all those products…. And started making soap as well. My friends and family were throwing me a little money at this point to make the products I was making for myself. I then started promoting it. What was a real big game changer for me was I began to weave spells into the products.
It has been an interesting path. I’ve grown a lot as a brand and witch. I now make spell kits, enchanted soaps, lotions, potions, elixirs, herbal blends, candles, tinctures, bath brews. I also offer readings, clearings, healings, reiki and teach classes on magick, witchery and tarot. I sell on my products and service offerings on my online store and vend at local events. I am constantly evolving my products and creating new things. I just love to share the magick! It makes me so happy to hear how my passion is enhancing peoples lives. How could it get better than that?!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, first off… at beginning on this venture, I wasn’t saying my soaps were enchanted. I had some fear about how it would be received. Flashes of “BURN THE WITCH” pop into mind. However, I was wrong. Once I was forthcoming about my process, the amount of energy and labor that was going into my craft, I gained a lot more clients. Not every one understands, or believes what exactly I am creating… and that’s ok. I still have plenty of non- witch folk who buy my product for the quality. Obviously, especially here in Texas, not everyone is comfortable with what I am offering. I get it! I grew up in the church, my family was Christian. I simply just explain that energy is energy, and it can not be created nor destroyed… just manipulated. Intensions and thoughts have an energetic field.. so once you understand that, its not so scary. Some pray with a thought to a specific god and some “pray” with candles/crystals/ plants and focused intention. Mostly, when I come up against a road block of unacceptance, I just send it peace and love. Life is too short to dwell on a difference of opinion.
Please tell us about Moonlights Apothecary.
The most labor intensive product I create are my soaps. They are cold process, you know, the old school way of making soap! Lye is used. Yes, Ive almost blown up my kitchen before lol.
I begin with organic oils and butters, create an essential oil blend for my purpose. say its my Love Spell soap… which is all about self love and attracting the right kind of friendships and suitors… Well the essential oil blend has all of those qualities in it. I use moon water that I charge with crystals and do energy work and weave spells into the soap as I make it. It then goes into a 2 month crystal grid for more charging.
My potions are essential oils, herbs and crystals. Same thing, all in alignment with the magickal outcome. That is with everything that I make. The candle. Lotions. everything.
I do offer spell kits that contain everything to cast your own magick spell, including the directions.
I do tarot readings and mediumship. I am also a Holy Fire Reiki Master, a Shamanic Practitioner I love to do house clearings as well. Giving people peace of mind and getting entities detached from people and properties. You can find me around DFW at the Dallas Psychic Fair, Holisic Fair or any of the Witchy events. I also offer most of my services online and have clients all over the world.
I do have classes and retreats if your interested in learning this path your self! I have taught Jar Spells, Candle Magick, Protection, Herbal Magick, Tarot, Moon Magick and have more planned for this year. The retreats may be my favorite thing I offer. I rent out a cabin or house. We spend the night, have a cook preparing all of our meals and do multiple classes, rituals, spells and create a really beautiful community of sharing and growth.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Riding horses, being out in nature, mixing up potions in the bathroom from everything under my moms bathroom sink and roller skating.
