Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniela Michelle Parra.
Daniela, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
A girl from El Paso being raised by immigrant parents. I grew up in a border town city, where one side of the border made the news for the safest city in America and the other side of the border, made news for the second world’s most dangerous city in the world. I watched my parents grow up working so that we could partake in the American dream. Their hustle and determination is definitely something that defined the type of person that I want to be. Fast forward to my graduation. I had a pivotal moment that early on trying to set up my career, where I realized that my parents had spent their whole life working harder. Than working smarter. Because of it, they had missed many important moments in raising me and my brother and sister. I found myself in a situation where I chose to be part of setting up a business with my partner Donovan Ruffin where we were working our faces off sometimes 80 hours a week at a time. But the real estate investing business brought into fruition not only a multi million dollar company but a business that allowed us to get better and there gain time freedom as well as financial freedom. Now THAT is the true American dream. Within a year, we took ECO LLC, from a three man operation to a multinational multiple city investment business operations. This is only year one.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road was definitely tough. In this industry and something that school doesn’t necessarily teach is that you have to be devoted – almost obsessed – in figuring out the problems that are in your way of success. The transition from being programmed into a 9-5 mentality to entrepreneurship can also be tough. We are so pre conditioned to go for the secure and not to see the opportunities of how far our own efforts in an industry that we are passionate about can take us. But the company grew too fast! It was either failing or learning as I went… Obviously failing was not an option. I remember having long days and going home and crying. I felt overwhelmed and confused at times. Or even worse, I felt helpless because I didn’t contain all the answers. But the crazy thing about it is through every single situation I learned and came out on the other side more knowledge, more confident and more ready to help my clients.
In the end.. Being a building block for ECO, a real estate investment company to a multi-market multi million dollar company, has been one of the most exhilarating and humbling experiences of my life.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I specialized in setting up the transactional systems of the company. Also, quickly I learned that I am a CLOSER in negotiations. I quickly gained the nickname “Price Drop Queen” because I would create 30-40k leverage on several deals before we closed. This is all with only one year experience in the industry.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
The plan this year is to keep impacting my community. I’m passionate about what I do because I can impact my community and help people who many times have found themselves in difficult situations (foreclosure, death in the family, etc.) to be able to offer a solution and make their life just a bit better has made what I do fulfilling. I also love real estate. I can’t believe that I’ve only been in the business for one year!! I have a feeling in my gut that this is just the beginning and I get excited when I think of other market branches I can tap into. I also plan on growing my brand and investing in the E-Commerce industry with fashion, which happens to be my other passion.
