Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Le.
Dana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for retail. Even as a little girl, I would light up when my mom would tell me we are having a garage sale. As I got older, I began to make things with other kids and sell them door to door in our neighborhood. Then in college a girlfriend and I rented a small spot in a local shop and started selling our wares! It continued as I started my job as a physical therapist and at one point, I was working a full time job and had space rented in four stores selling all kinds of goods and wares. Then kids came into the picture and I took a long “break”. During that time, I developed an obsession with having a kids store. I would dream of one day having a boutique on the main street, but it just seemed impossible with a full time job and two young kids. Fast forward and here I am… Living out my dream!
Today J+K Kids Supply is a trendy Girls and Tween boutique carrying clothing, accessories, gifts and more! We take pride in hand selecting each brand we carry, ensuring the best quality and trendy age-appropriate styles! Shop us online or visit us in downtown Frisco during one of our pop-up shops or events!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think every start up is sort of like a roller coaster, full of ups and downs. Sometimes the ups and downs happen several times in one day! I’ve definitely had my share of struggles, but I always try to stay focused on the bigger picture.
Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
My company is a trendy girl and tween boutique carrying clothing, accessories, custom vintage denim and gifts! My goal is to curate unique brands, age appropriate, good quality and, most importantly, make my customers feel confident and happy! I also offer styling services, which is something I love and have soft of “fallen into” as an offshoot of this business. I have had the opportunity to do some fun styling sessions for not only my customers and have worked with some amazing photographers!
J+K has also created a great social media following and has an amazing brand rep and ambassador team. Many of these girls have been with me since day 1. This is the part of the business I am the proudest of. It’s been so much fun to give girls/tweens the opportunities to build up their confidence and promote positivity and support to other girls/tweens not only in the DFW area but all over the US!!! Some of our brand reps actual met through this program and have become great friends. How can you not love that! This team also goes above and beyond each year to support the Kids Shouldn’t Have Cancer Foundation. This year the girls made friendship bracelets and had an amazing fashion show to support this foundation. Giving back is so important and I am thankful to be able to share this opportunity with our reps.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Our big event in the near future is an amazing pop up shop we are doing in collaboration with several other companies and super popular photography company for the NCA (cheer) competition in Dallas on Feb 28/29. We will be set up at Gilley’s in the Brazos room and will be having a fashion show, photo ops, styling sessions and more.
We are also looking to grow our vintage denim collection and limited edition logo designs. We have a huge t-shirt collaboration with Calamity Jane releasing this month! Plus, we are working hard to release our next batch of vintage one of a kind denim pieces this month!
