Today we’d like to introduce you to Judy Gaman.
Judy, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I remember sitting on the front row of class, not able to read as fast as the other children. At the time, back in the 70’s and 80’s, we didn’t have a clear understanding of learning differences like dyslexia. It wasn’t until years later that I would be diagnosed, a moment that would forever change my life. Now, as an award-winning author and speaker, it’s hard to imagine that little girl sitting on the front row in fear of being called upon. However, it’s that experience that shaped my ability to communicate. I learned how to listen with real intent and how to speak with great authority. I’m not alone. There are many of us that have gone from front row to CEO. As the CEO of Executive Medicine of Texas, I’m able to communicate with my employees and patients with great empathy and understanding of their struggles.
While I have been blessed to attend schools like George Washington University and now even Harvard, the best education I received was from my best friend and centenarian, Lucille Fleming, who died just shy of her 104th birthday. In my memoir Love, Life, and Lucille, I openly share the wisdom she imparted upon my life. I used to say that everyone needed a Lucille. Then, I wrote the book so others could have Lucille in their life.
Has it been a smooth road?
Within the pages of the book, I also detail my struggle with Lyme Disease, Neuro-Lyme, to be exact, a painful and debilitating experience that had me wondering if I would ever work or write again. Through love, prayer, and amazing medical attention, I was able to make a near full recovery.
Please tell us about your work.
As the CEO of Executive Medicine of Texas, I’m blessed to spend my time with employees who excel at giving incredible medical services and patients who have the desire to live the best and healthiest lives they can. Through a luxury medicine model, people fly in from around the globe to half half-day executive style physical exams, partake in concierge medicine and experience some of the most advanced age management programs available today.
Aside from my duties at the office, I spend my time speaking to large groups and the media, as well as writing books, articles, and co-hosting the Stay Young America! Podcast.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
While we were one of the first to market in the realm of preventative care, more and more practices are moving into this space. This is partly due to burnout on the side of the physicians, and partly due to market demand. I believe that in five to ten years, we will see a full 3 tier system. County or government provided care, insurance care, and private concierge care. While we have these three now, the least utilized sector is currently the last.
