Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliya Hasan.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My Henna journey started when I was a little kid. If I recall in my vague memory, my aunt mixing Henna paste for Eid and using matchsticks to decorate our hands. I remember getting mesmerized while watching the local Henna girls in Pakistan doing bridal Henna for my aunts. I would just sit and watch for hours in awe.
I started playing with henna as a young teenager doing Henna for friends, and family for fun and mainly on Eid. When I got daughters of my own, they inherited my love for Henna from me. Soon enough I found myself adorning not only my daughters, but their friends on special get togethers. I started getting calls and requests from friends and family which I graciously accepted, and did Henna without any charges for a good amount of time.
My friends suggested me to start charging for my services but I was still reluctant to do so.
One day I came around an opportunity to hang out with other Henna Artists for a weekend conference, and that gave me confidence to do it as a profession. From that point on, there was no turning back. I enjoyed every second of the process of doing Henna related Art and work.
I have read somewhere that you are the luckiest person if your passion becomes your profession and I consider myself very lucky.
Has it been a smooth road?
I consider myself very lucky to face none to very few obstacles. Sometimes it’s a challenge to juggle between a mother, wife, daughter, and a Professional Henna Artist. But whoever I am is because of the backing and undying support of my wonderful family especially my loving husband.

Aliya’s Henna Art uses only Fresh 100% Natural Organic Henna paste that I make myself, with high quality henna powder from leaves of Henna plant and therapeutic grade essential oils.
Specialized in: Aside from doing Festivals, Bridal intricate Henna, and private one on one sessions, I specialize in event, parties, and special occasions. It gives me an opportunity to connect to different cultures, expand my horizons, and get to know new and diverse rituals. At the same time, introducing my culture to many.
What sets me apart is my willingness to listen to each and every client’s need and customize my designs according to their preferences and likings.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Henna industry is going to be huge in next 5-10 years. People are looking for Henna Artists who use natural organic Henna. It’s gonna be the trend of next generation.
