Today we’d like to introduce you to Eddie and Cristina Saenz.
Eddie and Cristina, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
The idea of Kingdom Jiu-Jitsu started while on a mission trip in Barcelona, Spain in 2008. We saw how Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu could be utilized to quickly build relationships with strangers and share the love of Christ and our testimony of transformation. We returned from Spain and started a free jiu-jitsu program at a church in Garland. In 2009, we opened our first brick and mortar facility. Since that time, we have expanded three times and now have a 4000 square foot state of the art facility in a busy shopping center on Broadway Blvd.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to what we have achieved has not been easy. We struggled financially through many years while we built up our student base. We had many opportunities that may have resulted in more revenue, but we never deviated from the original vision that God put in our hearts.
Kingdom Jiu-Jitsu – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy. We have programs for children, adults and women’s only classes. We believe that Jiu-Jitsu is for everyone, regardless of age, gender, fitness, or experience. Our unique curriculum is perfectly designed to build up a beginner with no experience. We are the only BJJ Academy in the area that utilizes a professional curriculum designed by World Champion Rafael Lovato Jr. We also have a logical system of promotion that utilizes our own proprietary software to track our student’s classes and progression. We are most proud of the relationships that we have built with families throughout the years. We get to witness many people’s lives transformed. What sets us apart from others is our culture of family, humility, love and professionalism.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
