Today we’d like to introduce you to Maurice Johnson.
Maurice, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Nashville, Tennessee, was a place where my love and passion for the media entertainment industry started. First, I majored in Broadcast, Communications where I hosted live radio shows for my college campus. It was then in 2015 where I started working my very first red carpet event in Nashville at the GMA Dove Awards. In liberty of that, I was guest on WeTV successful reality show, Mary Mary, Season 5 and I got a chance to interview some of the most top-rated artists in the industry. It was from that very moment, I knew I was called to the great world of media. The doors of opportunity began to open up for me and I was introduced to more televised platforms. As I continued to evolve, grow and strive to work my craft the best way I knew how, I was then signed to a media consulting group called PullCorp Media spearheaded by Dr. Catrina Pullum located in Dallas, Texas. I was then able to accomplish more of what I dreamed to do.
Soon after that, I was called and work on red carpets for BET Awards, Soul Train Awards, Black Music Honors, Grammys, Stellar Awards, Celebration of Gospel. NAACP Image Awards, Woman that Soar Awards and so many more. Furthermore, over the years I was able to connect and interview so many inspiring people that eventually for some turned into family such as Toni Braxton, Vivica A. Fox, Taraji P. Henson, Reuben Cannon, Kenny Latimore, Faith Evans, Kirk Franklin, Erica and Tina Campbell, Major, Tank, MC Lyte, Smokey Robinson, Yolanda Adams, and the Real Housewives of Dallas cast and the list goes on. Nevertheless, in my relocation to Dallas, Texas to restart my media career has been nothing less of amazing. I look forward to all the many new great opportunities and people Dallas has to offer!
Has it been a smooth road?
There has been many ups and downs along the way. I must say one of the biggest struggles was having patience. I had to be ok with knowing that sometimes things aren’t going to always go as planned. So I had to learn that waiting and being still is often necessary. No matter the route you take even if its the longer route, always keep in your mind that you will complete what you started. Having great support from close friends and family has made my journey worthwhile.
